Preparo

Built a mock interview simulator to help students and recent grads prepare for their job interviews by practicing with relevant questions, receiving insights on their answers and getting comfortable with interviews.

Developed an MVP - Database with over 21,000 labelled questions (experience, industry, role etc) where users data would be directly plugged into the questions to create a life-like experiece, questions would appear on screen and users could record their answers and at the end of the interview playback their own videos for self analysis. I was then building in an AI avatar who would respond with relevant questions in real time and have an analytics engine giving feedback on the users answers on metrics like speed, clarity, filler words, eye contact etc. and be able to give feedback on the actual content of the answer and provide suggested answers specific to the user using GPT-3.

I had over 500 users sign up within 8 weeks, with new users still joining on a daily basis. However, speaking with these initial users, it became clear this wasn’t going to be the successful business I was hoping it could be. The level of payment our (mostly student) users were willing to pay for the amount they were going to use it wasn’t going to cover the usage costs of all the integrations and the myriad of other expenses that would come along with running this product.

I explored other use cases with universities and corporations with large graduate intakes but struggled to get it off the ground and eventually decided to explore other opportunities that were presenting themselves.

A few months on, I got some serendipitous news that I was right to go with my gut on Preparo as Google had just released an interview warmup software that had all my features and more…for free.
