I was IBM's Chief Data Strategist and member of the IBM Academy of Technology Leadership Team. I helped invent Internet Insurance and created the IBM Data Governance Council in 2004. I was appointed to serve on the US Commerce Department Data Advisory Council and advised the US Commerce Department on data strategy, a board member of the NY Civil Liberties Union, and was a co-chair of industry standards committees at W3C and OASIS. I earned five patents and two US President's Volunteer Leadership Awards, has co-authored marine science papers, white papers on Smart Cities, and gave a TEDx Talk on Africa Open Data.
