• Supported the acquisition of Subsea Innovation Ltd by Tekmar Group plc
• Write a detailed business plan, producing a three stage growth strategy; supported by existing data on trends in the industry.
• Work jointly with both the buyer and seller on the acquisition including overseeing all data room activity and coordinating responses to commercial, legal and practical questions.
• Writing a successful significant six figure R&D Tax Credit Claim.
• Oversee GDPR compliance and introduction.
• Implementing a new communications and marketing strategy.

Bignall Group

I joined Bignall Group to provide a new strategic direction following 10 years of stagnation. In the 18 month period we grew turnover 26% and net profit over 200% through a more sustainable lean business structure and dramatically improved sales processes.

Nortech Solutions Ltd

Within Nortech I oversaw domestic and international growth strategy, business development, comms & marketing and bid proposals for one of the UK's fastest growing engineering design firms. 

Role: Driving business growth including diversification into new sectors; creation and implementation of the Nortech Group growth strategy; expansion into new geographies (including the Middle East); adapting against market trends; managing teams of multi-discipline engineers; developing and maintaining excellent client relationships; (As Chairman of the Business Leadership Team) Acting as a Quality Champion, ensuring adherence to ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS 18001 & ISO29001; review all business issues including reports from the Senior Management Team, Quality Management Team and Board of Directors.

Group Business Development Manager

Tees Valley Unlimited

I was recruited to Tees Valley Unlimited to be their sector specialist in offshore wind, oil & gas, subsea and decommissioning. The role involved developing and maintaining a detailed knowledge of the industry and its supply chain; identifying its competitive position and delivering on inward investment opportunities through selling North East of England as a world leading location for offshore energy.

I set up then contract managed a first-of-its-kind in the world fund to help companies bid on bigger projects through removing limitation from performance and warranty bonds by using Government money. The £10m Tees Valley Catalyst Fund (now managed by FW Capital) supported near £300m of new contracts and created thousands of jobs.

From 2012-2014 I was asked to head up a team from Central Government (including BIS, DECC, UKTI, Number 10, Crown Estate and the six major investment locations in England) to showcase opportunities Foreign Direct Investment in the offshore wind sector. This included giving the England offshore wind sales pitch in over 10 counties to key industry leaders and working with a range of stakeholders at all levels.

In 2008 I started my own business and created two successful photography brands; UniPhotos.co.uk and FriendsandFamilyPhotography.co.uk. UniPhotos.co.uk was launched at Europe’s biggest photography trade show and was awarded second place as Best New Business in 2010 at the Sheffield Business Awards. The business was built whilst studying full-time for my PhD.
