Kalyan Presents promotes the diverse music of Leeds through collaborative art events. Most notable event raising £1500 for SkatePal, a non-profit that builds skate-parks in Palestine.

CANOPY HOUSING PROJECT LIMITED

The United Nations World Habitat Award winning (2015-16) Canopy Housing, founded in Leeds 1996, is a community led homelessness charity based on the concept of self-help. Canopy acquires derelict and empty properties and renovates them with the help of the future tenants and volunteers. 

Developed and maintained online presence across social media platforms. Created and shared content and information about the homeless and housing environment. 

Explored and created new forms of fundraising outside of the traditional avenues of trusts and grants including; public engagement activities, social media campaigns and collaborative art events.

In December 2016 I curated a pop-up big band to highlight that as we move into the festive season, a time that focuses on the comforts of family, security and warmth, not all of Britain will be experiencing those luxuries. Whilst some view it as the festive period, it is also one of the toughest times to be homeless and in particular, a rough sleeper. The lack of shelter and the cold and harsh weather bring with it more problems for Britain’s homeless. The longer nights and sharp drops in temperature bring an increased risk of pneumonia, frostbite and the increase in rain stops many sleeping sites from being used.

The Real Junk Food Project is a global, organic network of pay-as-you-feel cafés that solely uses waste food destined for landfill. We are one of the country's fastest growing movements having opened 30 cafés in Leeds, 80 in the UK and 120 worldwide in only 3 years. Our Fuel for School program provides food for 43 school in Yorkshire and feeds 20,000 primary school children each week.

Curated, promoted and managed a three part series of fundraising events held at various venues around Leeds with live music, art, and pay-as-you-feel food with more events planned for 2017.
