As a Fellow under the Go Solar Program, I am working on the following initiatives

i.) Performing literature and secondary research on small to mid-size businesses which have gone solar in the past decade around North America on databases such as NREL and MDV SEIA

ii.) Cataloging and Maintaining a comprehensive database of solar businesses on Google Sheets

iii.) Using Salesforce to manage rooftop reviews, leads & opportunities inside our co-ops, and backend work on our WordPress pages associated with Salesforce

As a part of our Go Solar campaign, the aim is to further expand our participation across existing co-ops in income-qualified communities as well as launch more co-ops across the rest of the United States.

Go Solar Program Fellow

District of Columbia Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU)

During my tenure as a Fellow at DCSEU (DC Sustainable Energy Utility), I had the opportunity to collaborate closely with the Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) and Calvert Investments. Our collaborative effort focused on integrating our SREC (Solar Renewable Energy Credits) Leveraging Proposal into DOEE's Single Family SFA (Solar for All) Program. The overarching objective was to develop economically sustainable solutions for homeowners residing in income-qualified neighborhoods. This involved providing free solar installations on their rooftops while generating revenue through the sale of SRECs, totaling a substantial amount of one million dollars.

Throughout the fellowship, which concluded in October, I undertook extensive market research and analysis. This encompassed a comprehensive study of DOEE's initiatives, the solar broker landscape in the DMV area (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia), as well as identifying the obstacles faced by financiers and sub-contractors in low-income neighborhoods. Moreover, I delved into the financial parameters that investors needed to consider when venturing into similar endeavors within the metropolitan DC region.

By leveraging my expertise and conducting thorough research, I actively contributed to the development of innovative strategies aimed at promoting renewable energy adoption, particularly in underserved communities. This fellowship experience enhanced my understanding of the complex dynamics within the renewable energy sector and further solidified my commitment to creating sustainable solutions for socioeconomic advancement.

Center for Clean Air Policy

As a Carbon Markets Fellow at CCAP, I conducted rigorous quantitative analyses focused on Chile's energy sector. This involved examining the country's existing renewable energy mix and evaluating the incentives offered by the Chilean government to coal plant operators, with the objective of facilitating a gradual transition to renewable energy sources within the next decade.

Our analytical approach encompassed various factors, including incentive payments ranging from $10 to $30 per ton of carbon emissions, as well as the associated costs of implementing and integrating renewable energy production. Leveraging my technical expertise in renewable energy, my primary goal was to identify an optimal "sweet spot" that would motivate fossil fuel operators to adopt cleaner fuels, while safeguarding their profit margins and ensuring a sustainable domestic energy production landscape in Chile beyond 2025.

Research Assistant

The Plant (Chicago, IL)

During my time as a Research Assistant at The Plant in Chicago, IL, I actively contributed to waste reduction and cost optimization efforts in collaboration with tenants. On a weekly basis, our responsibilities encompassed the following tasks: reviewing and updating inaccurate information in the MEFAs and LCAs, consolidating the outcomes into concise executive summaries for each company, communicating how our research and data collection/analysis could benefit their businesses, and composing a blog post for Plant Chicago on the project and its results.

Our primary focus revolved around implementing the principles of the Circular Economy, aiming to decrease the water footprint, carbon footprint, and GHG emissions of our tenants over a 12-month period. Leveraging openLCA software, our team conducted quantitative analyses to construct the entire manufacturing process of The Plant, considering its lifecycle from inception to disposal.

Eco Achievers

As an Assitant, I actively participated in a project that aimed to assess the feasibility and benefits of incorporating green/eco-friendly features in houses compared to traditional houses in the Chicagoland area. Our investigation encompassed a range of common green features, such as LED lighting, LEED Certification, Green Roofs and Walls, Solar Panels, and Geothermal Heating and Cooling, among others.

To conduct our analysis, we leveraged the extensive MLS Database and collected diverse sets of data based on specific parameters. This comprehensive approach allowed us to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of different green features on residential properties.

Upon the completion of our research, we compiled our findings into a formal and informative PowerPoint presentation, which we delivered to the Eco Achievers' staff. This presentation aimed to provide a clear overview of our methodology, data analysis, and conclusive results, enabling the organization to make informed decisions regarding the implementation of green features in houses throughout the Chicagoland area.

Thai Peroxide Co. Ltd.

During my mentorship experience, I was entrusted with a range of responsibilities that allowed me to gain valuable insights into plant operations:

One of my key tasks involved overseeing plant operations on a regular basis. By analyzing P&ID layouts, I deepened my understanding of the intricate processes taking place within the plant at a microscopic level. This enabled me to identify potential issues that could arise in the event of a shutdown, ensuring proactive measures could be taken to mitigate any disruptions.

While the major production lines operated smoothly during my training period, there were occasional minor problems in other areas of the plant. Under the guidance of my mentor, I received an intensive crash course on how on-site teams handled these complications and skillfully troubleshooted them on a daily basis. This experience provided me with invaluable knowledge of real-time problem-solving techniques and the ability to adapt swiftly to unexpected situations.

Through my involvement in the Peroxide manufacturing process, I gained a comprehensive understanding of the various unit operations involved. These included Distillation, Absorption, and Filtration, all of which play integral roles in the manufacturing process. Additionally, I recognized the significance of Pressure Swing Absorption and reforming as essential steps within this intricate process.

Overall, my mentorship experience provided me with hands-on exposure to plant operations, allowing me to develop a deep understanding of the complex processes, troubleshoot issues, and gain insights into the various unit operations integral to the manufacturing process of Peroxide.

Process Engineer

PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited

During my internship as a process engineer, I worked with my mentor in the following areas and assumed the following responsibilities:

*Made myself familiar with process simulations (i.e. in HYSYS and Aspen)

*Drawing on lessons provided in lectures, I prepared heat & mass balance layouts and P&ID diagrams. 

My mentor also briefed me on concepts involving process control narratives, cause and effect chart(s), as well as a basic HAZOP study. Safety orientation sessions, prior to training in the refining plant, were very exhaustive yet enriching for me. The rigorous procedures stressed the importance of  Safety in the Process Industry, a prerequisite for a process Engineer. Some of the chief aspects of the Safety sessions were Behavior-based Safety, Safety Interaction (SI), Incident Investigation (II), Process Safety Management (PSM), and Contractor safety Management. 

I also covered some of the elementary aspects of Process Engineering. They included the Process Flow Diagram (PFD) with complete flow of streams, process conditions and material balance modules. Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P & ID) are a vital aspect of Chemical Engineering and were extensively covered during my training.

With a background in Chemical Engineering and Sustainability Science, I am looking for opportunities involving, but not limited to, energy efficiency, policy-oriented roles, and ESG consulting within the renewable sector. Currently based in DC, I am looking to build connections with like-minded individuals, collaborate on initiatives that fit the niches provided above, and also attain more insight on roles that address these global issues and how I can play an active role in mitigating them.
