This photo of Jensen Huang at a Korean fried chicken spot in Seoul went viral.
But the person behind this wasn't Jensen.

His daughter Madison planned the entire thing.

She arrived in Korea a month in advance to scout local fried chicken spots.

And strategically picked a restaurant called Kkanbu Chicken (kkanbu = close friend in Korean, if you watched Squid Game, you may remember this).

She orchestrated a photo of three CEOs - Jensen, Samsung's Lee and Hyundai's Chung - catching up over fried chicken and beer.

(Something that Koreans do with their close friends after a long work day.)

The photo went viral across Korea.

And Jensen Huang went from well-known to well-liked overnight.

That's the power of personal branding.

It's no longer just about Nvidia the company.

It's about the person behind the company.

That's what creates the bond.

I watched this play out for lawyers who stopped relying on posts from their firms' Linkedin page to develop business. 

When they started sharing authentic stories and insights themselves through their own personal Linkedin, clients saw it and reached out naturally.

Here’s the 4 part framework I used. 

(You can apply it to spotlight your team, your practice group, or your firm without sounding promotional-y)

It’s called the Show, Don’t Tell framework:

1: The Hook
Start with a line that builds curiosity and pulls readers in.

2. The Moment
Share a specific story that shows how your team collaborates or supports each other.

3. The Emotion
What did that moment mean for you? Why did it matter? Make it relatable. 

4. The Takeaway
End with a reflection that signals what your firm values without saying it outright.

That’s it.
Four parts.
Zero cringey bragging.
And it works.

Try it the next time you write about your firm.

And when you do, screenshot the impressions you get. Leadership pays attention when you can say:

“Here’s a post I wrote that promoted our firm and reached 30,000+ people.”

Inn Laws is a fantastic Canadian lawyer community Dylan Gibbs started.

Today, I was invited to share tips on how to start building a personal brand as a lawyer on LinkedIn. 

I received some thoughtful questions like: 

👉 Should a boutique firm lawyer focus on growing the firm or their personal LinkedIn?

☀️My take: Personal. People engage with people, not firm logos. The more strategic play is to post from your personal page and have your firm page repost it.

In our careers, we run into situations where someone has more experience. More prestige. More something.

Sometimes that gets us feeling anxious, out of depth, like we don’t belong in the room.

But then there are these rare moments.

When you've done the work. When you've prepared. When you know your stuff.

And that small voice shows up and says exactly what Trey said:
I believe in myself.

Not because you're delusional. 
Because you did the groundwork to back it up. 

Experience matters.
But don't underestimate that belief. Because you may be surprised by what follows from it.
