So…Story Time!
I started SEO in 2013 with the goal of doing affiliate marketing.

I had some success with that with my get-rid-of-cable blog and a few other sites.

But I wanted more. 👀

I wanted to crush these big launch paydays like I saw other people making, so I came up with the literal groundbreaking idea of…

↳ …starting a blog and writing reviews there.

(𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘯 2024 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨.) 🙄

Anyhow, I figured I’d need a name for this massive industry disrupter.

I thought about it long and hard.

It was tense, and I was nervous about this and didn’t want to get it wrong… but this was causing me SEVERE anxiety, so…

…after those 2 minutes were up, I decided on Superstar SEO. 😀

Why? 
↳Because I was and am a big professional wrestling fan (moreso then than now), and at that time, instead of wrestlers, WWE was calling them “Superstars”.

So I went and bought the domain and the rest is a multimillion dollar SEO company 🤑🤑
that’s helped tens of thousands of businesses and people over nearly a decade.🤷

I spent a combined total of 5 minutes making the decisions to name my businesses. 
I bet some of us take a 💩
 that lasts longer than that.

I'M NOT SAYING you have to put that little thought into things… 
but be confident and make decisions, 
then go get stuff done so you can make real progress 
-because that’s the only way it’s going to happen.

P.S. I never actually did end up using superstarseo(.)com to write those product reviews. I decided to get into client SEO instead.

"Niche Down" is code for "Eliminate tons of people that can buy from you."

Don't niche down. Think Big.

However…. before someone gets triggered — It really depends on your goals. 

If you are fine making a living, even good money, then niching is fine.

So, for e.g. a 7 figure agency is a nice life and if that’s what someone wants there’s nothing wrong with that. 😀

If you have much bigger ambitions than that… don’t niche down.

Sales tip: Listen more, talk less! 

-In sales, it's crucial to be EMPHATIC and listen actively. 

-Don't ever say tell your prospects that they're doing something wrong - it's a conversation killer (at least for me.)

-Instead focus on the value of your offer or your prospect's concerns.

Have I really made it look this easy to run a successful marketplace? 🤔

Below is a post I made to my personal LinkedIn. The other one is a copy cat.

But who is this copycat?

Well....Someone who started yet another rinky-dink marketplace (that looks like they used a code canyon script for) has been messaging people on Legiit trying to recruit them (all freelancers because of course, that’s where they’d focus🙄🙄)

After we vanquished them I checked out their site and social media and found this on their Facebook page… 👀

They not only trying (and failing) to copy my business (they’d should go ask everyone else how that worked out for them) they’re literally copying images I made in midjourney and my entire post. 🤣🤣

That being said:

↳There’s NOTHING wrong with creating a business in a market that already has existing businesses.
↳There’s NOTHING wrong with creating a marketplace either (even though I don’t suggest it 🤷)

But having your entire motivation be “Someone else did this so I can do it too. Let me copy them. Then I’ll just go after their clients and freelancers, and EVEN COPY THEM PERSONALLY!”

Is not going to work.

And it makes you look weak and small. :)

I’ve talked in my other videos/posts about a growth partner but I don’t think I quite got into what it really means (for those who don’t know)

A growth partner is someone who takes care of a whole area of a business – say “the whole lead generation” or “the entire marketing”

If you bring in results → you’re irreplaceable (or harder to replace at least.)

If you want to become a growth partner, you really should think of who your potential client is.

Avoid small companies. 

Why? Because it's in the name - they are too small to afford to work with a growth partner

I'd rather pay for expertise than waste hours convincing myself I'm making some grand, noble effort….while having zero results

I really, really believe that sitting around, contemplating, and theorizing won't get you anywhere. 

So, why waste precious time reinventing the wheel when someone else has already figured it out?

Pay someone who knows what the heck they're doing to smash through that obstacle for you, 

…or better yet, pay them to teach YOU how to do it yourself.

Sure…. some might call it shortcutting, but I call it efficiency. 🤷

Sometimes certainties suck. Simple as that.

But if you try to think where those certainties came from, I bet you couldn't say for certain (ah, the irony....)

We cling to these certainties without a clue as to why or how they got there. They're just... there.

Cold calling is great BUT it doesn't work on every niche.

→It doesn't work if the person you're trying (the decision maker) to reach has a gatekeeper
→It doesn't work if they're too tech-savvy
→It doesn't work if they're not checking their emails/phone calls most of the day

For anyone that ever thought of me as an overnight success. I wasn't. 

Back in 2011, I was applying for part time jobs that I didn't know if I would get because I was overqualified. I was scraping by, uncertain if I could make ends meet…

In 2024, I've come so far and am still going. 😏 😀

So, if you aren't happy with where you are, remember you are only in the middle of your story, this isn't how your story ends….unless you quit.

I used to drown myself in motivational quotes back in my corporate days, like a desperate soul in need of salvation. 

Because I was in need of salvation 🤣

Now, those days are over. 🤷

Why? Because I've found something better. I'm doing what I love, exactly where I want to be, and headed exactly where I want to go. 

Constant motivational quotes for me are just noise now. 🤔

When you're truly passionate about what you're doing, you don't need someone else's words to pump you up, over and over again. You're already fired up from within. 

So….if you feel like you’re in constant need of motivation, maybe it's not about needing more pep talks, but about what you're doing. 

If you're in a CYCLE (very important keyword here) of needing tricks and tips just to get going, chances are…it might be time to stop and find something you want to do.

Same query shows the snippet on mobile and desktop FROM THE SAME POST 

↳On mobile it highlight 𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 hat SEO (as the answer)
↳On desktop it highlights 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘦 hat SEO.

No wonder no one knows what to believe when Googling something.🤷🤷🤷

Unlike some people think: Business instincts are NOT just magically bestowed upon you at birth. 

Alsoo…Your instincts ain't worth squat if you've only ever seen one side of the coin.

Time is your ally here. 

↳ The more time you spend getting more experienced and knowledgeable, the sharper your instincts become.

↳ More varied experiences mean you got more tools in your belt. 

↳ And what does that mean? It means when the crap hits the fan, you aren't standing there scratching your head. 🧍‍♂️

And let me tell you, this….

When you've got your instincts tuned, you can sniff out a challenge from a mile away. 

-You see it coming before it even knows it's coming for you. 
-You don't just react; you innovate. 
-You're not playing catch-up; you're setting the damn pace.

So, you better start racking up those experiences, 
sharpening those instincts, 
and innovating 

Cuz, when the next big thing comes knocking…. you wanna be the one answering the door with a solution in hand, not standing there clueless like a deer in headlights.🚘🦌

I often get told when I post about what I’m doing that “I could do XYZ too if I didn’t have kids!”

Please stop saying that. 

Even though I like kids, side from a brief stint as a stepfather I don’t have any. 

But, I sure as hell know that it’s got to be damaging to children to hear that “If you hadn’t been born I might actually be able to do the things I enjoy.”

 ↳If you are sacrificing things you enjoy BECAUSE of your children → that’s your prerogative and choice, not their fault.

Instead - Focus on building a lifetime of value from someone

I wanted to share a little piece of advice that's really helped me out:

When you're starting a business or working on a new project, 
there are going to be so many things you don't know how to do. 

And that's okay! It's totally normal…. 🙂 
In fact, it's a great opportunity to learn and grow.

Instead of getting discouraged when you come across something you don't know, 
see it as a chance to expand your skills and knowledge. 

Take it as a challenge to…. figure it out.

There are so many resources out there to help you learn, whether it's online tutorials, books, or asking for advice from others who have been there before. 

Don't be afraid to try things out, 
(even if you're not sure what you're doing at first.)

Remember, Every. Successful. Entrepreneur started out NOT knowing how to do something. 

Just…have the curiosity and determination to figure it out along the way. 🤷

Would you trust someone with a shady reputation? Hell no!

But, why?

He may have the skills and may even walk the talk. So why not?

Because of that shitty reputation…
