SITL Capital (2017) stands as an early-stage Fund to support visionary entrepreneurs, with disruptive projects in early stages of development, focused on technology and digital in any field of activity. Our aim is to empower startups in their first stages (pre-seed and seed), supporting them with financial and smart capital provided by our 31 co-founders. We support entrepreneurs to materialize their vision for improving people’s lives, no matter how, as long as they make a significant impact.  This is our mission.

I contribute scouting, reviewing and selecting health projects for potential investment. My scientific-managerial expertise allows me to assess their whole scope: from scientific background to business opportunity for identifying those more promising. Healthcare is a major area of our investment, and startups show a good progression so far.

Founder of a an early-stage digital health startup, aimed to improve cognitive and functional impairment in the real life of children with neurodevelopmental disorders.

We aimed to develop a digital platform of personalized medicine for improving patient care, reduce healthcare cost and increase access to healthcare worldwide providing remote assessment and monitoring to patients, personalized treatment recommendations for parents driven by data/evidence, and real-world data set for novel therapy development. Solution based on neurosciences, Big Data from real-world evidence studies (RWEs), AI, apps and digital biomarkers. B2B solution: improve patient care and clinical practice, scalable access to healthcare worldwide, clinical trials efficiency, treatment post-market validations, innovate therapeutic strategies, build relationship and brand  with patients, new market penetration through basic healthcare services.

Responsibilities: leading clinical and business arms in our early stage: 
i/ Clinical: from need insight to prototype (MVP) ideation design and development (data collection, cognitive digital biomarkers, data analyses, outcomes), co-creation process, proof of concept, clinical validation, regulatory strategy.
ii/ Business: identify business opportunities, project management, business strategy, fundraising, attract key partners/collaborators. 

We quitted due to lack of funding to advance the project.

Instituto Hospital del Mar de Investigaciones Médicas (IMIM)

Intrapreneur and clinical researcher leading BRAINALLY project: a digital health platform for delivering personalized cognitive assistance to families of children with neurodevelopmental disorders. My goal: setting up a startup. 

I leaded clinical and business arms: from platform ideation, to digital co-development with technical team and clinical validation. 

The project pivoted significantly from a research project in academia (2016) to a for profit startup (2018).

Postdoctoral Research Collaborator - Project Lead Digital Health Platform

Lead for cognitive research in early phase clinical trials in neurodevelopmental disorders (CNS disease) executing studies within schedule, with highest quality and successfully achieving our goals. We assessed an experimental therapy (a nutraceutical [EGCG] combined with digital brain training) as a novel therapy for improving intellectual disability in Down and Fragile X syndromes. Aim: obtain proof of concept of its efficacy in humans, in young adult population.

Responsibilities: 
i)	ideate strategy, design and plan clinical trials starting from preclinical findings to achieve goals. 
ii)	ideate and write clinical projects and related documents: protocols, proposals, guidelines.
iii)	project management and execution from beginning to end (lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary team of 5 people and sites, monitor, anticipate and implement mitigation strategies, training staff, etc).
iv)	trial data analyses, data integration from different sources, and results interpretation.
v)	dissemination of findings: writing scientific articles, oral present., reporting study follow up
vi)	search for key study partners and building consistent collaborations for future studies.
vii)	building relationships with stakeholders: patient assoc., research partners, opinion leaders.
viii)	clinical trial consultant for pharma industry for early phase clinical trials (P.II) in Down.

Our research team was first to demonstrate the efficacy of EGCG compound and this combined intervention for improving intellectual disability in adults with Down syndrome (de la Torre et al., 2016). I contributed:
i/ holding full responsibility for primary study outcomes, shaping cognitive research strategy.
ii/ innovating methods and design of clinical trials that were key for probing treatment benefits.
iii/ pharma: contributing significantly to start their clinical project and clinical trials in Down.
Awarded with postdoctoral fellowship from FRAXA Research Foundation (USA) (2013-2015).

Postdoctoral Researcher - Clinical Project Manager for cognitive research

Responsible for cognitive research in early phase interventional clinical trials (Phase II) in neurodevelopmental disorders (CNS disease). During this period, clinical trials were focused in Down Syndrome.

Since project onset (2010), I held equal responsibilities and contributed to the same extent as in my role as Postdoctoral Researcher.

Associate Researcher-Clinical Project Manager for cognitive research

Clinical practice at Hospital del Mar in inpatients with a broad range of brain pathologies (brain neurodegeneration (Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson, frontotemporal dementia), cerebrovascular disease, metabolic disorders, brain tumors (brain mapping), epilepsy, psychiatric disorders, etc. 

This period includes training and internship at Hospital del Mar (Neurology Section) during 3 years.

Awarded by the pharmaceutical industry for the quality of my work as rater in clinical trials in brain neurodegeneration.

PhD on the neurotoxic effects of drug abuse (ecstasy [MDMA] and cannabis) on cognitive performance and brain electrophysiological activity (ERP P300). Two year observational clinical study. Doctoral thesis awarded twice: Extraordinary Doctorate Award from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB), and 2nd Prize Barraquer Bordas awarded by the Catalan Society of Neuropsychology.

Clinical Neuropsychologist

Neurogroup-Hospital Quirón, Fundación Catalana Síndrome de Down (FCSD)

i/ Neurogrup-Hospital Quirón. Cognitive assessment and follow-up of oncology inpatients with brain tumors (i.e. language mapping: awake intra surgical monitoring of speech to preserve language function during the removal of tumors).  Follow up of patients with brain neurodegeneration.
ii/ Down Syndrome Catalan Foundation. Identifying early onset of dementia of Alzheimer’s type.

Recognized for the good quality of my work and the good rapport with patients/caregivers.

I professionalized the middle management staff of a local top family firm from the industrial recovery and recycling sector. Responsible for recruiting new talent for the firm. That meant: from identification of needs, candidate interviewing, selection, advice to the CEO, and follow up candidate-company match. 

My criteria and work contributed very successfully to the company growth and expansion. Finally, I recruited 40 employees from all organization levels. Most managers continue in the firm in key roles or as directors of business units.
