Office Manager / Assistant to the President

Sean came to us as a Broker & an Administrator from the insurance industry, not having much experience in a creatively -fueled environment such as Boost. What a breath of fresh air he's been to our team. With his corporate experience, Sean has brought over a series of processes & administrative assistance that we didn't truly know we needed. He continues to be the rock & steady voice that our dynamic team needs. We've had him on board as Research & Administrative Assistant since the Summer (2015) & we look forward to many more years with Sean. " 
            
• Accountabilities include a wide range of administrative, clerical, & reporting tasks.

• Assisted in recruitment of new Boost Staff & co-op students. Created a variety of new procedures to ensure new hires are giving the tools they need to succeed at the agency.

Research & Administrative Assistant

• As a RIBO License Insurance Broker, responsible for the day to day management of an established   book of over five hundred policies.

• Built and maintained ongoing relationships with both Personal and Commercial Lines clients by providing excellent customer service.

• Gathered information from clients, assessed their insurance needs and risk profile in order to provide them with the greatest coverage at a competitive rate. 

• Ensured clients fully understood the terms and the extent of the coverages provided in their insurance policy. As well as advising clients on risk management and helping to devise new ways to mitigate risks.

• Provided administrative functions for the book of business including quoting, writing new business, rewriting business, processing of renewals and endorsements. 

• Completed ongoing insurance company training sessions to further understand the evolution of insurance products in Ontario.

Customer Service Broker (Registered Insurance Broker)

Economical Insurance

• Acted as an integral part of the Commercial Mid-Market department, accountable for providing superior service in a clerical and underwriting support role.

• Responsible for gathering background information on new commercial business submissions.

• Assisted underwriting with minor underwriting duties as well as imputing and organizing new business, renewals, endorsements and cancellations into the commercial insurance systems.

• Maintained electronic logs and account specific spread sheets.

• Provided backup reception duties, as well as other administrative task when required.

Underwriting Assistant

• Completed an extensive competitive landscape project, comparing Perth to other major competitors in the non- standard automobile insurance industry. This report was presented by Perth’s Division Vice President to head office in an effort to create a more competitive insurance product.

• Provided day to day support to Perth’s Division VP and the Business Development team by completed a variety of ad hoc tasks as assigned. 

• Provided ongoing support to the Perth underwriting unit. Completed a variety of daily, weekly and monthly reports.

• Key contact at Perth for HR related requests. Continually updated employee personal records in conjunction with the head office HR department.  

• A member of the JHSC as well as the CORE crew, a Health and Wellness Organization at Economical Insurance that strives to improve employees overall health and wellbeing. Planned and executed successful Fall Wellness Fairs. 

• Responsible for planning and executing a variety of staff events. These included; United Way Campaign, Flu Shot Clinics, Take Our Kids to Work Day, holiday events, summer events, and Employee Appreciation Week.

• Provided front line IT support within the branch. Responsible for submitting Security Authorization requests to ensure employees have the correct systems access. 

• Worked alongside Head Office and vendors with regards to the 2009 office relocation project.

Assistant, Administration

IA Clarington Investments

• Managed and evaluated the progress and daily operations of the department as well as supervising a Mail Clerk representative.  

• Effectively co-ordinated Sales Team, Product Management and Operations mass mailings by utilizing a meticulous attention to detail and assessing departmental needs.

• Spearheaded the redesign and execution of several new policies and procedures to better develop the department. Most notably, the introduction of a computer based application, which increased the effective tracking of incoming and outgoing materials, saving the Company substantial costs and time.  

• Liaised with courier representatives and other business contacts to negotiate prices and services. Successfully recruited a number of new vendors to aid in the progressive development of the Mail and Fulfilment department. Effectively sourced and purchased new business machines and tools which delivered superior products at a decreased cost.
