Brand Strategy & Innovation

During this period, I decided to take a short break from a full-time job by pursuing my passion for coaching & consulting to keep my learner side alive. I got to interact and work with social entrepreneurs, life coaches, and various creators which helped me gain a fresh perspective about the creator industry.

I loved every bit of this experience because I got to design the strategy & content for personal brands. I also got to define my own work schedule and design my own clientele that further enhanced my negotiation and leadership skills.

I joined The Better India with a very clear purpose in mind which was to use both my experiences in marketing/communications & social impact to help create large-scale change. I wanted to accomplish the goal of collaborating with corporates/big brands to help change-makers get recognition & partnerships to run their mission at scale. My belief in purpose-driven marketing and its impact only got stronger while working at this media company. 

At The Better India, I got the opportunity to work at the intersection of social change, media & commerce. 

Fun Fact: I also did a lot of voiceovers for the in-house videos that somewhere served my childhood desire of being a voice-over artist.

Teach For India

Teach for India was by far one of the most enriching and eye-opening experiences I have had in my life (both personally & professionally). During the two years of my fellowship, I was placed at a low-income private school in Seelampur, Delhi. From making sure that the students perform well in their academics to equipping them with 21st-century skills, it was all a roller coaster ride but worth it.

Some of my biggest takeaways from this journey are -

1. Building meaningful relationships - I realized that it is a skill that helped me traverse through some difficult times in this journey. When you truly add value to peoples’ lives, they won't mind going out of their way to help you succeed.
2. Time management & planning - When you have multiple interests and a lot to accomplish in a day, the only thing that can save you is this.
3. Enjoy the process rather than worrying about the results too much. I learned it more towards the end of the fellowship, but once I started adapting to this learning, my work became more process oriented and surprisingly result-oriented as well.

At L&K, I got the opportunity to work on Lotus Herbals, a renowned natural cosmetics company. I worked closely on strategizing the content marketing for their makeup range and on launching a new organic brand in the market. This experience helped me get better at some crucial skills like negotiation and presentation.

I feel grateful to have worked with a brand like Tata AIA Life at this organization as it honed my skills in creativity, research, and project management. 

As the brand custodian, I was given the task of successfully relaunching the brand with the #makinggoodhappen campaign across media platforms. Accomplishing the mammoth task of releasing 300+ units of OOH (artworks in more than 8 regional languages) and managing the production of the brand film that received more than 5M views on YouTube was surely a boost to my corporate spirit. The campaign also went on to win the famous Abby's Award at Goa Fest.

During my time here, I learned how to be more patient and about the crucial role that networking plays in any professional field.

Being a curious learner, I wanted to gain experience in other fields of marketing, especially event management. Hence, I joined the event team at Hakuhodo which was responsible to manage the entire booth for Maruti Suzuki at the Auto Expo 2014 wherein we as a team did rigorous planning to deliver a very successful event. In addition to this, I also gained firsthand experience by spearheading the brand advertising portfolio of Suzuki two-wheelers, Toshiba & Fortis Healthcare.

The overall experience at this organization helped me strengthen my belief in teamwork and gave me a positive vision of the future in experiential marketing.

This was my first professional stint that became my stepping stone into the world of advertising & marketing. A place that gave me the fantastic opportunity to lead four different brands at once. Yes, you read that right! Even though my profile was just that of a trainee (though later I was confirmed as an executive) this was an organization where I could shine with my hard work & persistence, no matter what my position was. 

At DDB, I had the privilege to work with the most dynamic set of creative people who taught me what it means to stand out in a cluttered market with pathbreaking ideas and execution. I also worked with seniors who gave me the most precious lessons in leadership that I still hold close to me. 

HBO, Wrigley's (Boomer & Orbit), Dabur, Twinings, and Nestle are a few of the many brands that I worked with here.
