National Centre of Robotics & Automation

Added a PDF report generation feature to Range Rover Defender Diagnostic Software made for the Pakistan Army. Repaired unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). Built a football patch counting machine. Programmed and optimized a line following robot. Designed posters and flyers for various products developed by NCRA. Prepared a pre-feasibility report for the development of a fingerprint and facial recognition security device.

Aristocrafts Carpets

My brother and I started the business as an online store for Iranian carpets and ended up learning valuable business lessons the hard way. When the first stock arrived from Iran, I was excited to apply all the business tips and tricks I had been casually learning over the years. Our USP was that we were the only online carpet store in the country that sold directly to consumers. I designed a beautiful website with stunning pictures and exotic descriptions of the products. I also created a Facebook store, an Instagram page, and a Google business profile to maximize our online presence. We even ran a social media marketing campaign with quirky ads and fancy graphics to create a unique brand identity and generate sales (I have included some Facebook ads below). The whole process of setting up the website, creating social media accounts, cataloguing the inventory and taking pictures of the product took me several weeks. By the time we decided to call it quits we had made exactly zero sales online.

Although we sold our entire stock, mostly to family, friends and acquaintances for a small profit we ultimately realized that the online store would not work. I received calls from interested buyers who found us online almost every week but no one was willing to go through with their purchase online. This is what I learned:

- Practicalities come first: figure out whether the business model will work for your particular product. what works in one market may not work in another
- Never put the horse before the cart: No amount of fancy marketing ploys and best business practices can make up for a service people don't want
- Juggling entrepreneurship with university studies and other activities is really hard. Not being able to give as much time as you want to the business is frustrating and demoralizing.

An MSc Investments graduate from the University of Birmingham with a bachelor's degree in Mechatronics (Robotics) Engineering. Combined with my experience as a growth strategist for DTC brands, I bring a unique combination of engineering, marketing and finance skills to the table. My extracurricular, volunteering and entrepreneurial experiences have taught me to collaborate effectively, think outside the box and most importantly, never stop trying.
