Project Manager

Ensure that all activities within the designated areas are well planned coordinated 
and be able to utilize all available resources in coordination with other functional 
managers in directing and supervising all involved personnel and sub-contractors. 
• Lead and ensure all work groups are properly guided, in close cooperation with the 
Contracts Manager (Eskom), in assembling and controlling the required resources 
(labour, Equipment, Materials and tools required) for all maintenance projects. 
• Manage all aspects of the team (i.e., performance, recruitment, development, and 
training). 
• Perform administrative functions (i.e., compiling monthly task reports, invoices, PPE 
register, tool register, HR-related matters, procurement of spares and consumables). 
• Inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with QA/QC specifications and 
requirements, standards and procedures, client requirements and provide technical 
solutions to resolve problems. 
• Source sub-contractor companies (External Service Providers) for short term 
maintenance projects and management of contractor’s performance on site. 
• Ensure teams compliance with OHS Act, nuclear safety and liaise with SHEQ 
representatives to ensure functional of SHEQ on maintenance activities. 
• Ensure training is done and team members are competent as per client’s (ESKOM) 
requirements (FFD). 
• Managing maintenance projects of plant pumps, valves, hose reels, pipe systems, 
gates, and doors (fire doors, chub doors, Security-controlled doors, Aluminium doors).
• Ensure compliance to the National Nuclear Regulator safety regulation standards.
• Develop a detailed project plan for short-term projects
• Allocating and managing project resources (labour, spares/material, and tools).
• Project time management monitoring, assessing and ensuring progress while regularly updating the client on the progress of the project to ensure alignment with the project plan.

UKZN project
Restructuring the Facility Management Department on all 5 campuses, the project 
involved analysing structure, processes, procedures, and strategy. 
The project outcome was expected to address the following points:
• Insourcing vs. Outsourcing (determining services can be outsourced and 
insourced).
• Supporting motivation based on industry norms and benchmarking with similar 
level Institutions in South Africa – providing a proposal to split the department
between hard services (with specific emphasis on Asset Management, 
Comprehensive Maintenance Planning and Scheduling, and GMR Compliance).
and soft services (dubbed Custodial Services – Cleaning, Gardens, Fleet 
Management and Registry).
• Staff requirements for insourcing, specifically in the Minor Works sub-section, 
relating to Artisans and Semi-skilled Artisans numbers to execute minor repair 
work.

Engineering Consultant

Rheinmetall Denel Munition

Supervising operators in the manufacturing of Explosives. Training, mentoring, and 
coaching new operators with regards to the manufacturing documentation and 
processes. 
• Ensuring the compliance to OHS Act, Explosives Act, ISO 9001 Standards, all regulations involved, and Manufacturing Work Instructions. 
• Ensuring the Production Manufacturing instruction and Quality Control Plan is 
followed for all work done and that there is Zero defects. 
• Taking samples to conduct acceptance tests on products. 
• Facilitating the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and initiate, 
motivate and drive participation in MBU and Lean initiatives and activities (5s, waste 
reduction, continuous improvement risk mitigation, Standard, Gemba, VSM, 
problem-solving, performance.)
• Managing PPE, consumables, and stationery, and generating and monitoring 
requisitions through Qmusik (ERP). Liaising with Stores and Procurement 
department regarding throughput of stock
• Maintain discipline, i.e., monitor time and attendance, and take corrective action if 
required. 
• Conducting investigations on defects incurred on the process line following, 
corrective procedures, production management policies, processes, and standards. 
Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems. 
• Liaising with the maintenance team regarding maintenance of plant equipment’s 
(pressing machines) and issuing work permits for maintenance.
• Setting daily targets according to the Manufacturing Planned Schedule (MPS) and 
ensuring that the scheduled manufacturing daily targets are communicated to 
operators and achieved. Ensure production meets the MPS delivery date.
• Planning, scheduling, and controlling resources (Bill of Materials, facilities, 
equipment maintenance, labor, hours of Operators) to produce Explosives and 
ensure they conform to the specified standards and meet the MPS requirements. 
• Coordinate and manage operators as per process line activities.

Plant Supervisor

Herdmans SA

Asset care management by creating and managing Preventative Maintenance 
Schedules for machines (24 Machines) and production plant (Extraction System, 
Water Pumps, Boiler, etc.). Factory Machines Improvements and 
Changes/Modifications. 
• Planning and managing the maintenance of factory machines and plant of two 
departments (Planned Maintenance/Inspections, Breakdowns, Minor and Major 
Services).
• Managing the Maintenance Team (Artisans; Mechanical Assistants and a Cleaning 
team), Time sheets for salaries, and managing stand by, overtime hours and shut 
down hours. 
• Source suppliers (International and National) for procurement of Spares/parts for 
machines and produce monthly invoice reports.
• Manage day-to-day operations expenditure not to exceed allocated quarterly
budget. 
• Minimizing downtime production by 90%, utilizing of machinery, monitor machine 
performance and efficiency and eliminate loss, OEE. Driving cost reduction in 
maintenance.
• Conduct root cause analysis on reoccurring maintenance problems.
• Ensuring compliance of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Project Management
• Plan and manage capital projects (e.g., replacement of extraction system project)
and managing the project budget.
• Holiday Shutdown planning (determine work scope) for Shutdown Maintenance 
(Machines and plant). Do a project activity plan.

I am experienced in Lean Management Principles, 5s, Shutdown management, Project Planning, ISO 9001 Standards, Health and Safety, Manage Preventative Maintenance and Budgeting (CAPEX). Understanding these various project areas has enabled me to effectively collaborate with departmental teams, customers, and stakeholders at all levels. I also have a thorough understanding of computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Projects, Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint) and engineering computer programs. 

Having led and supervised a number of production and maintenance teams, I’ve learnt first hand, how to foster high-performance teams. 

I am passionate about Renewable Energy and actively seeking opportunities in the sector.
