A few very interesting stats that excite us:

1. Gift card revenue is essentially a 0% loan for stores that sell them. Starbucks sells billions of dollars every year and uses that money to invest in other ventures.
2. Gift cards are counted as a liability when they are sold. This means those sold during the holiday season help lower taxable income.
3. Unused gift cards can be counted as revenue without a cost after a certain period of time. This means profit. 10-30% of gift cards revenue typically goes unused.

The NYC commerce events scene is picking up this week. As we approach BFCM people want to get the events done before its heads down time for e-commerce and retail brands. 

Below are a few great events happening this week:

Today (Monday): Innovate 2025 kicks off at Pier Sixty. This is a big conference, I expect there to be a lot of dinners and other events happening surrounding it. If you're doing anything this week, let me know, I would love to add it to the NYC Commerce Cal. They also have some great speakers like Jay Hunter from MaryRuth's, Ezra Firestone, the e-commerce OG, Isaac Medeiros from Kanpai Foods and many more!

Tomorrow (Tuesday): MDS Connect – Ecom Founders Social at Innovate 2025. This is one event I saw happening that is surrounding Innovate. cc Ian Sells

Thursday: Limited Supply | New York Meetup hosted by Shin Takeda at One World Trade. Limited Supply has a great Slack group. I recommend it to everyone. I have no question this will be a great event!

I love weeks like this in NYC. Plenty happening. A lot of learning and opportunities to meet others.
