I went from a PMO to a Product leader at a giant company within 3 years, discovered Product Marketing and settled into a Marketing Strategist. How? Because Iā€™m curious, Iā€™m comfortable with ambiguity, Iā€™m not afraid to ask difficult questions, and I have a gift of getting the most out of peopleā€”which is a key skill in all these positions. As a Product leader at a very technical product without any development experience, I earned my team and my organizationā€™s trust, learned how to say ā€˜noā€™ or ā€˜not nowā€™ to balance risk and customer needs, and delivered significant releases that outperformed legacy products. As a Product Marketer I delivered essential business insights that drove strategy and product improvements. As a sole PMM I honed in on the most impactful activities to make it easy for Sales help prospects buy. I created rigor and fun around launches to ease CS and CSMs anxiety, help Product remove internal resistance, and amplify impact through Marketing and Sales partnerships. And, I rose to the challenge of pouring my deep customer understanding, ICP knowledge, and market research into content strategy, customer marketing and campaign planning. Now what?
