Explainable AI Research: Runaway Models was designed and developed for a masters dissertation for the Design Informatics programme at the University of Edinburgh, and was awarded a Distinction. This research was accepted as a spotlight poster presentation at the ACM CHI Workshop on Human-Centered Perspectives in Explainable AI, and the UBC Designing for People Create Showcase. - Ethics in AI: designed and developed a data-driven interactive article (‘Runaway Models’) to communicate language model bias in language models to lay audiences.
- Deep NLP: fine-tuned language models for various NLP tasks like machine translation and text generation using Python.
- User Research, Testing & Evaluation: ran rapid iterative testing and evaluation (RITE Method) with various users to improve the design and usability of ‘Runaway Models’.

- Product Strategy: cross-functional collaboration with senior leadership, design and engineers to drive strategy and prioritise product roadmap using mixed methods of research. Insights from my research and analysis have been used to launch the Portex web application.
- ResearchOps: established continuous mixed-methods research processes and practices.

- Data analysis & visualisation: analysed web, CRM and email marketing data to uncover insights and provide recommendations for SAP’s global digital marketing strategy.
- Dashboard Design & Reporting: built interactive dashboards, presentations and reports on business performance for business stakeholders across global teams.

Emerald Health Therapeutics Inc.

- Data-driven insights: built interactive dashboards, presentations and reports that were used to build Emerald’s overarching vision and strategy and support international partnerships.
- Market research & analysis: led market research campaigns and analysed product trends, consumer usage and behaviour to identify and validate all product offerings. 
- Creative marketing: managed a creative agency that launched the Emerald master brand and all 4 consequent brands.

Business Intelligence Analyst

The University of British Columbia

HCI Research: Designed and implemented an explorative study called 'Haptic Speech' on the use of vibrotactile feedback to enhance intelligibility in acoustically noisy conditions by providing stimulation in a manner similar to the laryngeal vibrations felt during voiced speech.The final iteration of the study was published in the Canadian Acoustical Association (CAA) journal and received an A grade (82%). - UI/UX Design: designed and developed a stimulus delivery user interface system for study participants using Python.

HCI research: Led the preliminary research of an intelligent tutoring system (ITS) that is adaptive to various cognitive and learning styles, and designed for tablet and mobile devices. This project will be implemented in public primary schools across Botswana upon completion.

Public health research: Designed surveys, participant consent forms, study concept notes and protocols; and revised research proposals and applications to medical research ethics review boards for various public health projects used across Tanzania.

I use data to understand user needs and behaviours, and identify opportunities for products and services that users love and that fit into business objectives. I thrive when working in cross-functional teams and collaborating on creative challenges.

I just recently completed a masters on the intersection of data science, design and society (https://www.designinformatics.org/) at the University of Edinburgh with a distinction. Currently working in the field of accessibility at Level Access (prev. eSSENTIAL Accessibility).
