One of the most rewarding things about working in the hospitality industry is the meaningful relationships you form along the way. It's an industry that's often overlooked, but the connections you make are truly invaluable. 

For me, hospitality wasn't my first choice 35 years ago when I was applying to colleges. It was a last-minute decision to enroll in a program that my high school guidance counselor recommended. But looking back, I'm so grateful for that recommendation and I can't imagine doing anything else.

The labor challenges in our industry are real and younger generations aren't choosing hospitality as a career path. Many aren't interested in starting at the front desk and working their way up. But if we can share our experiences and encourage just one person to join our industry, it could change their career trajectory. 

I owe my career to the guidance counselor who saw my potential and knew that hospitality was the right fit for me.
