“So you guys sell hot sauce?”

This is a real question I heard at an event in 2022. We had been investing heavily in growing our marketing team and brand and while it was definitely paying off at the top of the funnel (we were growing traffic every month, our LinkedIn presence was amazing, and were becoming known for throwing great events and parties). I realized that we were dropping the ball if our ICP had seen or heard of Chili Piper but had no idea what we did.

How did we address this challenge as a marketing team?

We’re in the ‘in between times’ with AI
A lot of marketers are avoiding using AI out of fear. Fear of losing their jobs. Fear of the unknown. Use AI as your co-pilot to take mundane tasks off your plate. I’ve personally been using it for repetitive tasks like editing down copy to fit character counts or coming up with alternative headlines.

The future of organic search is unclear
SEO folks expect search traffic to go down for everyone later this year when AI results are prioritized. Most websites will get less but higher qualified traffic. Helpful, useful content will always win, short-term hacks won’t

A lot of marketing teams are still siloed from sales and working towards different goals. A few marketers I spoke with rarely met with their sales teams and didn’t know how they were performing 

Influencer marketing isn’t going anywhere
TikTok is still huge in B2C space but longer-form videos on YouTube drive more conversions. (Let me know if you see any of our influencer content in the wild 😏)
