Editor-in-Chief

Stagnito's Connected Consumer Summit brought digital, IT and shopper insights executives from food retail, CPG and digital marketing and analytics companies together to exchange ideas and solutions to drive retail technology forward. The inaugural event drew 30 retail executives from more than 20 $1 billion+ retail organizations, 15 major CPG brands, and had 30 sponsoring technology companies.
* The Connected Consumer Summit evolved from a series of marquis technology roundtables I developed and moderated for PG ($100k+ each in revenue, held at least twice a year)

Develops high-value content that spans Progressive Grocer's various media platforms, including print, in-person events, and online.

Manage Progressive Grocer's social media properties, and leverage emerging media platforms to best serve readers and customers.

•	Built a B2B social network targeted to independent grocers from concept to completion. Developed partnership with the National Grocers Asscoaition for the network, which was launched at NGA’s annual event February 2010.
•	Manage Progressive Grocer’s social media platforms, including LinkedIn (1,200+ members), Facebook, and Twitter.
•	Developed concept for Supermarket Technology Virtual Trade Show that sold for $133,000.
•	Created model for Executive Insight Series research study (see references below), a sponsored, high-value, high-margin custom research product developed to fill information voids in the industry. The first study, Technology and the Independent Grocer, has had its sponsorship renewed five times to date, and the model has been used to create and sell new research studies
•	Created Executive Roundtable Series model, another high-value, high-margin custom in-person event that provides a forum for retailers to share their best practices on industry issues. The model has since been used to create additional sponsored roundtables on various topics, averaging $35,000 to $60,000 each (see references below).
•	Speaker at key industry events, such as the National Grocers Association conference, Retail Systems (closed), and The Grocery Manufacturers of America Information Systems/Logistics Distribution trade show.
•	Developed content for and moderate PG Webcasts.
•	Worked with Nielsen executives and Digital Media division to develop unique web resources across multiple retail channels, as well as strategic guidance for sponsored custom web projects. The first such project, an online resource for retail design, sold for $60,000+ across four brands.

ABOUT ME:
I entered the content business kind of by accident. In a news writing class during college, we were given an assignment to cover a local event of some sort on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. I found a weekly business seminar held Tuesday evenings in the basement of a church. The topic of this particular seminar was about how to negotiate during a job interview. I wrote up the news story, and at the same time I handed it into my professor, I also placed a printout of the article on the desk of the editor-in-chief of The Upper East Side Resident -- a local weekly newspaper with a circulation of about 60,000 (this was back in 1991, when these papers still existed in print format.

Two days later I received a call from the editor-in-chief, who said he'd love to run the story, and asked if I'd like to write some more for them. There was no pay, but I'd get bylines for my portfolio.

While I only received a B-grade on my assignment (still a bit sore about that), those clips got me my first real publishing job, which led to the next opportunity, and the next, and so on, basically until my current role today.

Over the past 28 years or so, I've been in the business of content, particularly business-to-business content for the retail, foodservice and consumer packaged goods industries, working my way up from assistant editor of Foodservice Director magazine up to editor-in-chief of Progressive Grocer Independent, which I launched about 10 years ago. I also launched the Connected Consumer Summit, a retail technology conference. 

Now I create content for ECRM, a company which increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the buying and selling process for retailers, foodservice operators, pharmacy and medical markets and the suppliers who service them via our private, pre-scheduled face-to-face meetings and attached services, as well as via our digital product discovery platform, RangeMe.

My role is to create thought leadership content that keeps ECRM engaged with its existing customers, and of course helps extend our brand to those buyers and sellers not yet familiar with us. This content runs the gamut -- blogs, videos, social media posts, speaking, podcasts, panel moderation -- you name it, I've done it.

I'm an avid practitioner of Gary Vaynerchuk's philosophy of creating and sharing lots of regular content that delivers value -- for entrepreneurs, retailers and suppliers across all retail categories.

Buyers meet with brands all of the time. You gotta stand out.
