My love of marketing began when I was at University studying Consumer Psychology. Studying Consumer Psychology opened my eyes to all of the incredible ways you can use data and analytics to better understand human behaviour. I was blown away. And from here, I committed to pursuing a career in marketing which leads me to where I am today; soaking up the solopreneur life at Fika Digital.

I am passionate about helping other business owners to thrive online. Combining copywriting and content marketing with a love of data and psychology, I approach things with a unique lens - one that puts building communities, connections, and conversions at the heart of your brand.

My lovely, long-term retainer clients have some exciting projects and initiatives in the works, meaning we’re ramping up organic content to amplify interest (and action, of course)

I’ve started work on a new content marketing client, tackling some juicy cybersecurity topics to support their new e-learning course

Anddd, I’ve got some brilliant copywriting, content strategy, and training projects lined up for various businesses in the education, agency, and charity sectors

Slamming my laptop shut and spending a wet, rainy and chilly week in the Highlands was just what I need to refuel my brain for the next 6 weeks of intense work

October flewwwww by. I swear I blinked and it was over? I am busy, busy, busy and I’m grateful, grateful, grateful

Total clients: 9 (6 retainer + 3 projects)
Total revenue: £10,536
Hours spent on client work: 134
Hours spent on non-billable work: 26
Total hours: 160 (plus a few mins)

Projects worked on:
→ Clarity Action Plan
→ Technical blog articles
→ Social media content planning
→ Content strategy development
→ Organic social media management
→ Monthly email marketing newsletters
→ Brand messaging for a few different businesses

Highlights:
→ Working with a lovely new client on a mini project
→ Getting stuck into some gritty, technical topics for blog writing
→ Getting to run a Clarity Action Plan for a business friend (yay 💛) who was feeling stuck with their positioning
→ Diving into juicy audience to map out the messaging for two VERY different clients

Lowlights:
→ I'm definitely working at capacity right now (working avg. 8.45 hour/work day)
→ Rescheduled hospital apts and horrific migraine attacks meant multiple days out (hence the 8.45 hour workdays)

Between current booked work and potential work in the pipeline, I'm officially at capacity for the rest of 2025. What a lovely problem to have 🥰

It’s a wholeeee other world. And, weirdly, one that puts me WAY out of my comfort zone

Yes, I write words for a living

Yes, I looove weaving storytelling into the words I write

But writing an actual novel? Whewww, it’s something else entirely but I’m excited to dig into it

So far, I’ve…
→ Written 1,918 words
→ Read Save The Cat! Writes A Novel (ty for the nudge Shivani Shah 💛)
→ Remapped out my plot
→ Scrapped 1,918 words (putting me back at a peachy 0 words lol)

Writing a novel is going to be a sloooow process. But I’m excited to do something creative, learn a new writing craft, and see if there’s any lessons learnt from fiction writing that I can bring into my paid work

Anywaaay, if anyone’s ever written a novel… gimme ALL the tips, advice, lessons learnt, and words of wisdom please 🥹

Canva dropped some interestingggg updates at their world tour keynote last night  👀

The ones I'm excited to dig into are...

→ Their updated video creator (hellooo higher-quality social media vids without a ton of extra effort)

→ Being able to build and export responsive HTML emails (so you can have emails that look good AND aren't just a static image... without having to touch the code yourself)

→ Replacing my boring Google Forms (and expensive Dubsado forms) with branded interactive forms

→ And they're challenging Adobe by giving people FREE access to Affinity's suite of photo editing, vector design and layout tools (whewwww, that's a big one)

There's a heck of a lot more... like sharpening up the brand kit to being able to plan, create, and launch meta ads straight from Canva

Pretty cool for a brand that started as a spark of an idea for a 19-year old woman (and went through years of receiving 100s of rejections before finally securing investment and becoming the multi-billion company 👀 )

My local farm shop has the BEST (and tastiest) strategy for marketing their cakes ↴

If you order a drink (yep, even tap water), they’ll give you a tiny bite of cake with it for free

And trust me when I say, they are incredible at baking. Like, they make cakes that Mary Berry, Bruce Bogtrotter, and Nigella Lawson would all be proud of

So…

You devour this tiny, bite-sized piece of cake with your coffee

You realise “wow, that’s delicious!”

Then, just before you pay up and leave, you wander over to the cake counter, deciding you’ll just treat yourself and grab something to take home

And voila, they’ve just upsold you a cake (or three*) with one tiny, bite-sized piece

Genius marketing 😌

If I was going to make this a marketing lesson, I’d blabber on about having some kind of valuable lead magnet that gives people a taste of what you do for free then using that lead magnet to entice them into your paid offers… or maybe just buy people cake and hope they’ll come back for more 


*The real cherry on top of the cake is that each cake only costs £2.40 and it’s usually as big as your head. Incredible. I hope they never get affected by the economic crisis, shrinkflation, or the horror that is chocolate snacks becoming “chocolate flavoured”
