Software Development Engineer

As a member of the Developer Relations team at Smartsheet, my focus is on community building through education and raising brand awareness with technical audiences. Some activities that included:
	- Traveling to speak at developer conferences about technical topics such as Serverless and Automated Testing.
	- Research developer conferences and submit talk proposals that appeal to that community.
	- Identify, research, and teach topics that appeal to technical audiences across a broad ecosystem of languages and tools. 
	- Educate external developers on using the Smartsheet API and SDKs through coding samples, technical writing, and in-person training (hackathons, workshops, customer visits). 
	- Lead community discovery and outreach efforts.
	- Support local developer communities by sponsoring, hosting, and contributing to Meetups. 
Proactively network with developer communities to discover opportunities and build partnerships.

Other highlights:
	- Rebuilt Smartsheet developer portal using GatsbyJS, which allowed us to source content written in markdown from other engineers. GatsbyJS is a static site generator that uses React and GraphQL.

● Completed Coding Dojo,  a comprehensive and rigorous training program that teaches Full Stack Web Development. We learned three full stacks end-to-end. 
● Spent over 1000 hours learning and building web applications in MEAN (JavaScript), Django (Python), and ASP.NET Core (C#).
● Regularly collaborated with others building projects, reviewing code, and solving problems as a team. Used GitHub extensively for version control and to coordinate work with others.

I was accountable for developing and executing the marketing efforts at this Wealth Management Company.  My primary responsibility in this role was keeping the calendar filled with qualified prospects. I generated a substantial flow of new business - empowering the company to upgrade offices. 

Accomplishments that I am proud of: 
●    Implemented the most successful lead generation program the company had ever used involving continued education (teaching retirement courses to retirees at a local university).  
●    Developed a unique marketing mix involving radio, web, and events. Oversaw budget of $400k+.
●    Organized and executed 40 dinner seminars in one year - generating over 140 first appointments.

Carter Cutlery

I first worked with Carter Cutlery on the film below-helping some talented filmmakers (The Cineastas) get the beautifully crafted "Carter" video the attention it deserved. After that I worked with Carter Cutlery as a marketing consultant before accepting a full-time position.

At Carter Cutlery I photographed and listed products on the eCommerce website while managing operations and coordinating marketing efforts. I worked directly with customers, vendors, and outside publications - actively planning and pursuing press opportunities with an international reach. During my time with Carter Cutlery, Murray Carter was featured twice on national Japanese television and once on the History channel in the USA.
My marketing efforts strengthened the company's online presence, increased customer engagement, and grew the bottom line. Leveraging Murray's knife expertise and knowledge, I optimized an e-mail drip campaign that reliably converted website visitors into happy customers through education.

One of my favorite accomplishments were the social media ad campaigns that pulled interested customers into the top of Carter Cutlery's marketing funnel, promoted brand awareness and made direct sales. I wrote a monthly newsletter to ~11,000 subscribers - a regular source of sales and engagement. I used analytics on the back end of the eCommerce website and Google Analytics to track the impact of our marketing efforts. The data was used to interpret the success of marketing activities and align them with Carter Cutlery's goals

Carter Cutlery's products are very niche and it felt great to see the impact of my efforts firsthand. My favorite part about working at Carter Cutlery was the genuine happiness that our knives brought to customers. The experience completely changed how I think about marketing.

109 Salmon

At 109 Salmon I worked with a brilliant video production team to manage projects, pitch ideas to clients, and apply my critical thinking to video projects. While working as a consultant, 109 Salmon converted the warehouse space in my office building into a photography studio / sound stage. We started collaborating on projects and everything clicked.
I partnered with 109 Salmon to create integrated marketing solutions on a project-by-project basis. Our most successful project involved a new website, product photography and a short, compelling film complete with aerial videography (shot with a drone).

Camobear Records

I created integrated marketing plans to help creative project releases turn into community growth. I managed social media accounts, ran social media advertisements, and helped the company develop a more engaged group of followers. I traveled to Canada for Shambhala music festival to manage the group headlining the hip hop stage.
During my time with Camobear Records I learned a lot about the music industry, the importance of coordinating different marketing efforts, and how to launch a media project.

Grenade Gloves

While at Grenade I had firsthand experience applying the knowledge I gained while at school for Ski and Snowsport Retail.
I performed tasks involving Operations, Sales, Product Design, and Customer Relations, while maintaining receptionist duties.  In addition, I coordinated and managed a booth at several major snowboarding events - several of which required traveling and managing interns.
