Luke Bruneaux and I co-founded Kismet Improv in 2020, bringing diverse improv comedy styles to Pawtucket, RI. We built Kismet on industry-leading arts, labor, and business practices, creating a thriving arts business that successfully navigated through COVID while introducing new audiences to the transformative power of saying "yes."

AI won't fix your broken processes. It will make them worse.

Laura Tacho has broken down the 2025 DORA Report and confirms what many suspected: AI amplifies whatever system it enters. For example, if your approval workflows are already slow, AI just helps you create more content waiting in the queue.

Three things that matter for any team adopting AI, engineering or otherwise:

→ Fix your foundation first. Teams with clear workflows and fast feedback loops see real gains. Those without see more chaos, just faster.

→ Focus on systems, not individuals. Giving everyone AI tools and hoping for the best caps your impact. Real returns come from solving bottlenecks across 
your entire workflow.

→ Measure what matters. Adoption rates don't necessarily indicate whether AI is working. You need baseline metrics and clear outcomes—both quantitative and qualitative.

AI is a mirror. It shows you what's already there and makes it bigger. The opportunity isn't in the tool itself—it's in how you prepare your organization to use it.
