I'm fortunate enough to be employee #18 at this quickly growing FinTech startup. My "job" here was to design and implement a robust Customer Success framework to ensure that relevant value is realized for all users of the Hockeystick platform. I put "job" in quotes since - as with all rapidly growing startups - there is no such thing as an accurate/static job description.

Note: Position was originally with Dundee Capital Markets in 2012, and then eventually moved to Goodman & Company. All entities are wholly-owned subsidiaries of Dundee Corporation.

As this was a newly created position, I was able to autonomously establish various operational processes. Examples include creating a systematic valuations approach, developing relevant fund-specific performance reports to facilitate senior management's decision-making process, and constructing a framework for sub-advisers to communicate respective trading activity to the fund manager.

Other responsibilities included: 

* End-to-end financial/regulatory reporting
* Reviewing prospectuses and facilitating investment product launches
* Coordinating fund dissolutions with relevant third-party entities
* Reviewing NAVs prepared by third-party fund administrators

Arranged marriages are still pretty pervasive within the South Asian community. So of course as I approached "ripe marriage age" and started receiving arranged marriage proposals, my natural response was to create a South Asian mobile dating app that dismantled cultural stigmas around dating and disrupted the ancient arranged marriage industry.

Our February 2016 Toronto launch party was a success with 200+ attendees, and the app itself saw over 130 downloads that same weekend. I started KoffeeDate because I was single & my relatives were harassing me to get an arranged marriage - I met my now wife via the KoffeeDate brand and (more importantly) my relatives have come to terms with the concept of dating - problem solved.

As the back-office fund administrator for various clients, I reconciled daily account & cash balances, processed daily fund trades and unitholder transactions in order to provide accurate NAVs within strict deadlines for their respective mutual funds and hedge funds.
My inquisitive nature at Citigroup allowed me to quickly take on more complex clients that heavily traded in derivatives such as futures and currency forwards. I was also able to work closely with one client in order to streamline and automate the process in which futures trades were being received and processed. Doing so significantly mitigated the risk of human error and reduced the required daily processing time by about 3 hours.
