The Executive Leadership Trap: Borrowed Identity and the Cost of Inauthentic Decision Making

I realised something about myself recently and it was uncomfortable.
For years, I judged my own career launch
I began in teaching first as an assistant professor, then as a Python trainer.
Somewhere along the way, I told myself this made my journey less impressive.
Not fast enough.
Not flashy enough.
Now that I’m intentionally grooming myself for leadership roles, I see it differently.
Teaching builds patience.
It teaches you how to break complexity without ego.
It reminds you that intelligence isn’t always loud or fast and that learning deserves respect.
When someone approaches me one day asking,
“Can you help me take the next step?”
I know I won’t meet them with labels or intimidation.
Because I remember what it feels like to learn quietly.
I’m still looking for a mentor who can show me how to think at the next level of my profession.
Until then, I rely on books and observe people who are truly good at what they do—
not copying their noise, but understanding their decisions.
If I ever become a mentor and I intend to, I want to be approachable.
I never want someone to feel stupid for asking an honest question.
Maybe leadership isn’t about having all the answers.
Maybe it’s about not forgetting what it felt like to need one.

MapReduce Isn’t Dead Unoptimized MapReduce Is

I was all set to post my year recap.
The template was ready.
The captions were thought through.
The aesthetic was aesthetic-ing.
And then Canva said: absolutely not.

Hours of “retry download.”
Nothing moved.
Except my patience… which packed its bags and left.

To make it worse, those little ducks kept dropping on the screen like they were supposed to entertain me.

As if animated ducks could compensate for my time being held hostage.
They didn’t.
At first, I was annoyed.
Then amused.
Then oddly calm.

Because somewhere between the falling ducks and my last deep sigh, it clicked:

If I have to beg a tool to cooperate, maybe I’m not meant to perform for closure this year.

2025 didn’t need a carousel.
It needed integration.
Not everything has to be wrapped in a pretty template to be real.

Some years change you internally so deeply that summarising them feels disrespectful to the process.
So no recap post.
No “highlights.”
No pretending patience is my virtue.
Just a quiet realization:
I don’t chase things that demand endurance for nonsense anymore.
If it flows, I engage.
If it resists, I listen.
If it drains, I exit without explanation.

Maybe that was my recap.
Growth isn’t always visible.
Sometimes it looks like closing the tab while ducks keep falling and choosing peace anyway.

And honestly?
That’s the most on-brand ending I could’ve posted.
