In late 2008, I felt the UK was ready for a different kind of real estate advisory business. One that was consumer rather than producer focused. In January 2009, I co-founded Tenant Advisory Group (‘TAG’). To this day, we remain one of the only firms of Chartered Surveyors in the UK to exclusively represent the interests of commercial tenants. Our clients are diverse in terms of scale and sector. We act for start-ups through to international household names. Traditionally, our focus has been the TMT, financial and professional services sectors. However, more recently we have been retained by an increasing number of manufacturing and logistics operators. We provide a comprehensive range of surveying services. These include: strategic reviews, space audits, options analysis, property search, acquisition, lease re-gears and renewals, rent reviews, dilapidations assessments and claims, break option surrenders, business rates and service charge audits. Our tenant exclusive status allows us to deliver these services free of the conflicts of interest that often plague other advisers which in the main, represent predominately landlord's interests. Our firm is privately owned, RICS regulated and fully insured. We operate throughout the UK from our Manchester base. Why Tenant Advisory Group? The answer is simple. Most surveying firms in the UK have a vested interest in rents and capital values rising. TAG is different because it acts exclusively for tenants who, quite naturally, desire a different outcome. My Background I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1991 and have specialised mainly in the office sector ever since. My professional experience includes data analytics, occupation and investment strategy, property sourcing, heads of terms negotiation, legal drafting and technical due diligence, portfolio asset management, debt and equity origination. I have been extremely fortunate to have worked for some of the industry's leading advisory and investment firms and been based in a number of exciting cities including London, Hong Kong, Shanghai and now Manchester.
