I don’t have the usual entrepreneur story of “I hated my corporate job and had to get out.” I actually loved my job. I felt creative and useful. In the university marketing department, I had my hands in all online communication initiatives, including the website, email, and social media, working with several different audiences and holding us accountable to our timetables. I’m known for supporting people throughout the organization, leading new projects, and teaching teams how to use online tools to further the mission. Following my work at the university, I launched my own business, supporting other online entrepreneurs around technology and marketing strategy. I've helped hundreds of young businesses ship products. The best part is the variety of work, the opportunity to be both creative and collaborative, and translating “tech stuff” to users so we can find (or build) the best solution and empower everyone to maximize its use. After 10 years on my own, I joined the team at a sustainability-focused startup where I turned my entrepreneurial leadership into collaboration and support.
