Jacob is a dynamic individual based in Lagos, Nigeria, with a passion for pushing the boundaries of art, technology, and robotics. His journey began at the age of 10, fueled by a curiosity for electronics and a desire to understand how things work. This drive led him to pursuing vocational studies in painting and decoration at the Federal Science & Technical College Yaba. Recipient of the prestigious Guinness Scholarship, Jacob furthered his education in Electromechanics at The Institute for Industrial Technology, a Spanish school in Lagos founded by Saint Josh Maria. His thirst for knowledge and innovation continued as he was selected as one of 1000 entrepreneurs in Africa for the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Program in 2017, where he honed his business skills and earned a certificate of proficiency. Continuing his journey, Jacob was also chosen to participate in the General Electric Garage, a CSR initiative of GE run by neubridges.com. Here, he gained invaluable experience working with cutting-edge industrial machines such as CNCs, Milling machines, Laser cutters, and 3D printers. His exceptional learning ability and productivity led to an internship role as a 3D Printer maintenance technician at GE, where he was responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of 3D printers, optimizing production files, and minimizing material waste. During his time as an Intern at GE, Jacob helped over 150 fellow entrepreneurs selected for cohorts at GE, helping them bring their product ideas to life and develop minimum viable products (MVPs), with 65% successfully entering the market and generating revenue. In 2017, Jacob founded Techbionics, a startup dedicated to providing affordable 3D printed prosthetic devices for amputees and paraplegics. His entrepreneurial spirit and vision also led him to explore the real estate sector, with a focus on creating innovative Proptech solutions for smart buildings. This culminated in his most groundbreaking project, Waide a smart wayfinding solution for buildings. Waide utilizes inclusive indoor digital maps to ensure accessibility for all, including persons with disabilities, and provides a smart steering-assistance cane along with its companion mobile and web app, aiding the visually impaired in navigating outdoor-to-indoor spaces seamlessly. As Waide's founder, Jacob with his years of experience in CAD and architectural design systems leads all company operations, drives innovation in indoor navigation tech, and builds strategic partnerships to empower the visually impaired and promote accessibility in Africa and beyond.
