My passion for designing high quality, usable products has took me to tech startups, large corporates and everything in between. Here's how the story goes... Back In 2008, I spent my summer creating micro sites for the different departments across my local college. This felt like play to me. Seeing the difference that the things I created had on people's day-to-day was incredibly rewarding. This feeling has never faded. I knew this was the path for me so I spent the next few years working alongside some talented teams within brand and software agencies, and in-house product teams. This gave me a huge amount of exposure to the most effective ways to ship products, while perfecting my design craft. My ambition to share value took me to various roles leading product and design teams, building an understanding of how to find out what what people need, while working with internal stakeholders to deliver on business goals. Through my contributions to the experience of sky.com in 2016, we were able to reduce the number of package related customer queries coming into the call centres by almost 10%. During my time as Head of UX in 2019, I hired, trained and led a team of designers to support and achieve revenue growth objectives, whilst going through a series of mergers and acquisitions. While redesigning the experience of processing loan applications, I built and nurtured long lasting relationships with the internal assessment teams using our products. This boosted the reputation and credibility of the digital product team, by involving the end users in the design process to launch a new offering. I place high value in understanding what people are trying to achieve when interacting with a product, with the aim of always helping to create positive outcomes for all involved. When I’m not creating products, I’m helping designers realise their goals through personalised mentorship. Helping someone else move onto a fulfilling career path in design is incredibly rewarding to me. This passion to continually share has extended to speaking at a number of meet-ups and events. Discussing my thoughts on validating design ideas through prototyping, and how to measure outcomes when shipping products.
