Senior Software Engineer

Decodata

As an individual contributor I design, implement and maintain core parts of the Decodata product. New insights in the market made us decide to fully redesign the product selector and I implemented the first version of it.
Milestones: Delivering an MVP for a new product selector.

Principal Engineer

I lead a team of (part time) software engineers and computer science interns. Together with the product owner we decide which features to build next. I am responsible for the supervision of the interns, the wellbeing of the software engineers and hiring new team members.
Milestones: splitting the product into separate (micro)services, integrating the Image Library (built by a freelancer), migrating from DynamoDB to Aurora, introducing the Image Matcher (a web application to help match images to products).

Technical Lead

The first iteration of the Decodata product consists of a serverless data pipeline that processes incoming furniture data and exposes it through a set of REST API endpoints, which are being consumed by the web application used by our clients.

Software Engineer

The end-to-end team consists of data scientists, front-end and back-end engineers and QA engineers. We are building a service that, based on reviews, determines the popularity of a hotel and exposes this information to the trivago website.

Building a data pipeline that ingested both reviews and data regarding accommodations from all our partners and used this to draw conclusions about the attributes an accommodation actually has.

Textkernel - Semantic Recruitment Technology

I head the Data & Quality team at Textkernel. Our team is responsible for all knowledge that flows through our products and assesses the quality of this data as well as the quality of its influence on our products. We lead annotation projects, conduct relevancy audits and build a data structure that contains (lexical) information about job titles, skills, locations and other HR domain related knowledge. I enjoy writing tools to expand, maintain and test this knowledge, as well as empowering my team members to get the most out of themselves.

I test and maintain parts of our knowledge base and write tools to facilitate these processes. I also extend our knowledge base with data mined from the resumes and vacancies that are processed by our products. I have experience setting up testing through continuous integration as well as writing scripts in Python and Perl to facilitate manual quality assessments (such as annotation projects). I have an active role in our team, I like to be a bridging element between teams and present our work within the company and to customers.

In this short term project, data regarding employment brought to the greater area of Amsterdam by foreign companies has been collected and needed to be sorted, checked for anomalies and inputted in the central database in an efficient but still precise manner.

I played piano, bas guitar and I sang. During the sketches I played background music which I wrote myself (some times in combination with other members).
I was in charge of the musical processes within the comedy group Poolvogel. Everybody brought in their own songs and ideas and we would finish them together and give them a place in the show.
