I help aircraft suppliers requiring DO-178C flight safety certification, either in the United States or in Europe. My many years working on DO-178B and C in all aspects of satisfying airworthiness requirements for embedded software allow me to ensure clients achieve certification in a cost effective manner. I have written PSACs, SDPs, SVPs, Requirements Standards, SRDs, SDDs, and embedded software.

Senior Consultant

Georgia Tech Research Institute

Merged and updated the Common code and Shared Memory Port code repositories to be common for all CSCIs, included the closed lab and the 579th, and to be cross platform compatible across F-16 high block, low block, and A-10.  These are Ada, C, and XML source codes.  Modified VECTS, RTOS, Loader, and TRP CSCIs as necessary for this effort.

Implemented all the Software Change Requests for the Ethernet Driver and Shared Memory Port RTOS software.

Authored new Software Development Plans for ALQ-213.  There is now an overall plan and compliant project specific plans.

Authored the first ever RTOS CSCI Software Design Description.

Took over updates of the Internal Interface Design Description document required for each project.

Took a leading role in CSCI Software Requirements Specification publication.

Provided a gap analysis between current GTRI software practices and compliance with DO-178 B/C objectives.  Created a draft Plan for Software Aspects of Certification for GTRI.

Assisted as a team member in project designs, design power point templates, peer reviews of all software products and CSCIs, Software Change Request designs, and DOORS requirements repository usage.

Senior Software Engineer (Sr Research Scientist)

Staff Software Engineer –  on DO178B level B embedded projects for Airbus, Boeing, and Lockheed customers.  Both commercial and military.  

Authored the company DO-178B/C Software Requirements Standard, Software Design Standard, and Software Coding Standard.  Contributing author to Software Configuration Management Plan.

Sole author of Airbus Multi-function Control and Display Unit (MCDU-R) SRD and SDD, systems software allocated requirements analysis and reviewer, Honeywell SRD compliance tracker, C code reviewer, SQA audit responder, SOI 2 question response provider, and corresponding PR analysis (100+), implementation, & verification. Airbus Managed ESS engineers and contributed for development of the Boeing 747 MCDU-R SRD. Finished Boeing 777 MCDU-R SRD PR analysis and updates.  This also included some 777 SDD LLRs analysis/modification.  Airbus and 777 MCDU-R achieved commercial flight certification.  MCDU-R display platform is an XiLinx FPGA.

Wrote the simple and extended boot loaders for the Boeing F-15 Remote Interface Unit.  Also wrote much of the OFP which includes a TCP/IP interface to share all the remote sensor data and BIT with the mission computer.  RIU uses a XiLinx FPGA platform.

Software team lead for Airbus cargo handling system Lock Control Unit (LCU) that achieved flight certification.  This was C code on a powerPC developed with Green Hills Multi IDE.  Team size varied from 1 to 6.  Represented the company for all software technical related work at Airbus customer site in Germany many times.  Managed the two CAN bus ICD's for the LCU.  These ICD's was between between different vendors in German and England.  This included all the HLR management and a lot of system level requirement management.  

Software team lead for Lockheed C-130 AMU and CNBP software running on a XiLinx FPGA platform.  This project was done within budget and schedule with only 2 software releases required.

Staff Software Engineer

Boeing

Software Engineer – was responsible for systems engineering, software requirements analysis, software design, and software development for embedded (TI C31 DSP) test equipment for the Brimstone Missile & Launcher.   Was the sole software engineer on project for 8 months. Produced a 70-page software requirements specification deliverable.  Defined user interface requirements.  Designed software using client-server architecture.  Presented software requirements and design to British customer and government.  Developed the bulk of the software – about 3,000 lines of Ada code, helped project transfer to St. Louis, MO as part of Boeing consolidation, and got integration started.  Successful demonstration of product occurred in St. Louis shortly after I left the program.

Software Engineering Specialist & Technical Lead, Senior Software Engineer – was responsible for leading the software development effort for all Command, Control, Communications (C3), and digital map applications in the M1A2 main battle tank and derivative applications.  This included developing software myself, leading a group of 10 software engineers, and reporting to management and the customer.  This also included project management for multiple projects we supported, many technology demonstrations in pursuit of new business, and multiple proposal efforts.  In addition to the software developed in-house this included integration of more than 5 major pieces of software from 3rd party vendors.  This included the Embedded Battle Command (Task Force XXI) software from TRW, a map display server from Lockheed Sanders, VxWorks, VxWindows (Motif), and the X-Server.  Also had a great responsibility for all display LRUs for all GDLS customer products (US & Foreign).  Wrote over 30,000 lines of source code (Ada, C++, and Unix scripts).  Made numerous software design & schedule presentations to customers.  Received cash bonuses for work on various projects.  Completed all phases of software development from initial requirements through long-term maintenance.  Made heavy use of the Rational development environment the last two years.  Heavily involved in process improvement throughout from the MIL-STD 2167 era through achievement of a SEI CMM Level 3 Verification.  Experience in both a lab environment and an office environment.  Held a COMSEC clearance.

Senior Software Engineer

Lockheed Martin

Software Engineer – was responsible for developing the displays caution and warning software in the C-130J aircraft.  Took over key technical position after loss of senior engineer and developed software to existing design.  Completed testing of this software in time for first flight.  Experience in both a lab environment and an office environment.  Wrote about 3,000 lines of code (Ada).

Software Engineer – was responsible for carrier/missile simulation software man-machine interface for the Short Range Attack Missile and developing mission planning software for the Air Launched Cruise Missile.  Wrote over 18,000 lines of source code (PL/I & Ada).  Wrote software instructional documents for Strategic Air Command.  Had secret clearance.
