Essentially, I:
• Helped accrue insights drawn from consumer behaviour by carrying out keyword research;
• Research and wrote original copy;
• Optimised websites and content;

• Analysed the performance of content marketing campaigns, and much more.

I left after 4 months because it simply was not the right fit for me (nothing against the company or the people). I'm now looking for a role with more creative freedom and writing responsibilities.

I spent my year in the industry with IBM, where I was responsible for external relations, IBMer communications and executive communications in the UK and Ireland to achieve our business objectives. 

Some achievements included:
- Coordinated social media content for the UKI IBM Twitter page.
- Founded LinkMe 'Mini' (an internal newsletter) for the IBM Slack channels.
- Mentored a handful of trainees in their short times at IBM.
- Authored press releases for our external UK Newsroom (linked below is one example).
- Pitched IBM stories to the biggest global news websites.

I achieved three 'Exceeds' out of  five dimensions in my 12-month-review; Business Results, Client Success, and Skills.

Your mindset can shackle you if you let it.
I'm sure you've been there with the bad habits, etc.

But the great thing about life is you can change.

You just need to start small, and take learnings from the right places and people.

These 7 shifts are a great place to start:

1. I'm not ready → I'll learn as I go
↳ You'll rarely 'feel ready.' Learn as you go along.
↳ Action: When you next overthink, take action instead.

2. This is a problem → This is a puzzle
↳ Will you block yourself or energise yourself?
↳Action: Try utilising The Doorway Effect to shift your mindset/approach.

3. What if I mess up? → I've practised for this
↳ Utilise fear/nervous energy into excitement.
↳Action: Remember you are the expert in your space!

4. I don't know how → I can learn how
↳ There is absolutely nothing you can't learn.
↳Action: At lunchtime, watch an educational video.

5. This won't work → I'll find a way
↳ Adopt a problem-solving approach.
↳Action: Don't accept problems on face value.

6. This is a risk → This is an opportunity
↳ Your bias to risk should be as big as you can manage.
↳Action: Start watching Simon Squibb videos, lol.

7. I failed → I learned
↳ You can never fail if you learn each time.
↳Action: Ask yourself, "What's the 1 thing I'd do differently next time?"

If you want big changes, don't make big changes.
Make small changes, consistently, for a long time.

Start with these, and I'm sure they'll serve you well.

It's never too late.

Don't let past regrets affect you now.

I see this pattern of thinking everywhere
This notion that "it's too late". The time has passed.

"It's too late to start my business."
"It's too late to try to grow a personal brand."
"It's too late to do the thing I'm passionate about."

Honestly, I can relate.
I thought it was too late to start posting on LinkedIn.

But in a year, I've gone from 700 → 78,000+ followers.
My goal is 100,000 before January 2026.

I spent time learning first.
But when I implemented the right system...
That's when everything genuinely just took off.

So stop talking yourself out of doing something amazing.
Get started with these 3 simple steps.

1. Take the first baby step.
↳ Spend 30 minutes a day building something new.

2. Upskill yourself constantly.
↳ Don't let your current job limit your skillset.

3. Network, network, network.
↳ Talk to those who are doing the thing you want to do.

Learning from the very best is the biggest career hack.

Get started, stay consistent, and don't look back.
