What exactly does continuous fibre technology mean? ✅

Continuous Fibre Reinforcement (CFR) is a filament-based technology in which continuous fibres made of carbon, Kevlar or glass fibre are integrated into the component via a second extruder in the print head. 

One continuous fibre with a start and end point is inserted per layer. This technology is a patented printing process from Markforged.

How exactly does it work?

The first nozzle acts like a typical extrusion process. The composite filament forms the outer shell and the inner matrix of the component.

The second nozzle places the continuous fibre in the predefined layers according to the load.  The continuous fibres significantly increase the strength of the manufactured component.

Reinforcing 3D-printed parts is an excellent way to significantly increase their strength. This often achieves greater strength than milled aluminium parts. Without compromising quality!
