Let's hate on one of the most useless metrics on a Thursday once more: The NPS. -> You can absolutely love a product, and even recommend it but hate individual features about it.

The final number doesn't 'mean' anything. What should I do with an NPS of 40? Use the CES (Customer Effort Score or CSAT) instead:

Asking hypothetical questions (Would you recommend...) is inherently risky for predictability. The CES asks how easy something was immediately after it happened, examining an event that has already happened.

Asking on a feature level like that gives you targeted feedback about a very specific tool or feature. A team can get two useful insights from this: An average score that means something and splitting it up by vote.

You can then see what unites people who voted a 1 compared to those who voted a 5. Are they using the tool differently? Are they a completely different segment? Is it a tool that people are indifferent about? (Big Middle-finger pattern) or something that people hate or love (Strong 1 and 5 distribution)

You also can in house compare different CES scores of different tools. This is simply not possible if you use the NPS unless you have something like a course platform where they rate one-time consumed products like a course or a book.


How to implement

The CES is best asked right after a success happened with a tool. A download, something was saved, do NOT interrupt the flow of the user before they completed the action.

Since the CES is triggered on a feature level, you need to be careful not to trigger it too much. I recommend asking for it not more than once per 30 days/user, but this depends on your product and might even be way too much for high-usage products.

A comment field is optional, and the CES as well. Do not force users to answer it. Make it easy to dismiss (x) and capture "ESC" as a hotkey and click outside of it.

Good ways to segment the CES Results if you have the data:

Every CES score is per feature and:
- Free vs Trial vs Customers
- Different ICPs
- Geography


Give NPS no chance. Use actual data.

Adobe and OpenAI's Sora are partnering to revolutionize video editing forever.

Here's what you need to know:

Adobe just introduced a slew of new AI capabilities coming to Adobe Premiere Pro, aimed at transforming video production — while also teasing third-party integrations and a Firefly Video model in development.

-New AI-powered tools in Premiere Pro will enable users to extend video clips, add/remove objects from scenes, and generate B-roll footage using prompts.

-A new proprietary AI model called Firefly Video will join Adobe's existing lineup of Firefly models for image, vector, design, and text effects.

-Adobe is also working on integrating third-party AI models from companies like OpenAI, Runway, and Pika Labs into the platform.

-AI-powered audio editing features will be available in May, including intelligent fade handles, category tagging, and enhanced waveforms.

The demo video shows a wild look into the AI-powered future of video production, where edits are just a prompt away.

The third-party integrations also reflect Adobe’s desire to remain the editing platform of choice, providing optionality that gives users the best experience — even if that isn’t always Adobe’s model.

This is the best business trait no one talks about…

The most successful people are shameless and ask for things, even when the answer is likely no.

That didn't come naturally for me.

When I first started as an entrepreneur, I was hesitant to ask for help.

I didn't want to impose on others or seem like I didn't know what I was doing.

But Brian Chesky is right.

Being shameless was a key to success for tons of startup founders.

I remember early in my career, I had the opportunity to meet with a well-known investor. I admired their work and knew they could offer valuable insights.

But I was nervous.

“What if they say no?”

“What if they think my ideas are stupid?”

I almost didn't reach out.

But I mustered up the courage and sent the email anyway. Why not, right?

To my surprise, they agreed to meet.

You never know unless you ask.

From then on, I made a conscious effort to be more shameless.

I started reaching out to people I admired, even if I thought they were out of my league. I asked for introductions, advice, and even investments.

Sure, I got a lot of nos.

But I also got a lot of yeses.

And each yes opened up new opportunities and connections.

Here's the thing:

The most underrated part of building a startup in Silicon Valley is the sheer number of people that are willing to provide guidance and mentorship. The knowledge density here is unmatched.

Former founders genuinely want to pay it forward.

But they can't help you if you don't ask.

So how can you become more shameless?

1.  Start small. Ask for something low-stakes, like advice or feedback.

2.  Be specific. Know what you want and ask for it directly.

3.  Offer value. Share how you can help them in return, even if it's just gratitude.

4.  Don't take rejection personally. A no today could be a yes tomorrow.

5.  Practice, practice, practice. The more you ask, the easier it becomes.

Asking for things isn't rude. It's courageous.

Ask for what you want. The worst they can say is no.

But the best they can say is yes, and one yes could change everything.

The race for AI chips is heating up and OpenAI-Microsoft are not far behind. Expect some announcement soon, at this rate 🤖
