We were struggling to recruit a care team leader; taking our local authority to court to force them to fulfil their statutory duties toward my daughter; undertaking a major property development to adapt our home so as to be fully accessible; and my wife's career was taking off again after being on pause to care for our daughter. Damaris Media was a specialist PR and marketing agency - created using assets purchased out of receivership - with unique insight and reach into communities throughout the UK and beyond. We used this reach to promote movies. 

I initiated start-up, recruited and led a team of five, managing project delivery through that team to enable me to focus on business development and the multiplicity of tasks that fall to the small business owner.

Clients I won included major distributors such as Entertainment One, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Studiocanal and Universal Pictures, as well as niche distributors such as Altitude, Arrow Films, CinemaLive, Curzon Artificial Eye, Kaleidoscope Film Distribution and Thunderbird Releasing.  The 24 films we promoted included an Oscar winner (Darkest Hour), blockbuster animations (Finding Dory and The Secret Life of Pets), historical dramas (Victoria & Abdul, The Promise and Risen), foreign language films (Loving) and epic re-imaginings (Ben-Hur).

Appointed at start-up to develop strategy, business planning, funding, systems and infrastructure to scale up Love146's impact across Europe, resulting in significant growth which in turn increased the charity's role and influence in the UK and Europe.  Also a member of Love146's Global Leadership Team. 

Love146 exists to bring about the abolition of child trafficking and exploitation. My national leadership on this issue in the UK gave me a lobbying platform from which to influence the emergence and drafting of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Other significant achievements include organising RunforLove1000 (see video below) and being a member of a cross-disciplinary academic team that secured £1.8million of funding from the Arts & Humanities Research Council.

Qualifying as a solicitor in 2000, I started out as corporate counsel for a global investment bank in the City of London, specialising in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, banking, finance and commercial law.
 
Since then I've put this expertise and experience to use working with and for multi-nationals, governments and international NGOs. I have a particular affinity with entrepreneurs and their companies, having led start-ups and scale-ups in diverse sectors, including technology, property and entertainment. I am also an experienced non-executive director and trustee.
