Between 2012 and 2015 I held several senior executive positions and was a member of the department's management board and audit and risk committee. Immediately following the 2012 General Election I temporarily transferred to the Alice Springs office for three months as Executive Director, Southern Region pending permanent recruitment to the role.

I managed the operations of the Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive's offices, coordinated the department's Estimates Committee preparations, and from time to time acted as the Secretary to the Executive Council. I held the position of Executive Director, Corporate Services on two occasions. I was the primary officer responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the executive offices and project managed several high profile and sometimes sensitive projects. I also had direct responsibility for several business units while in the role.

Executive Director I Department of the Chief Minister

Responsible for the coordination of the Territory 2030 Strategic Plan.

Territory 2030 Strategic Plan was the government’s road map for the future. Developed in consultation with the Territory community, Territory 2030 set priorities and guided government’s efforts over the next two decades.

After engaging with the Territory community, the Steering Committee defined six areas of  importance: education, society, economic sustainability, health and wellbeing, the environment, and knowledge, creativity and innovation. A Territory 2030 Draft Strategy based on these was developed, then taken back to the community for further consultation. After some final changes, the Steering Committee presented a number of recommendations to government. These recommendations became the basis for the first ever 20-year strategic plan for the Northern Territory – Territory 2030.

The project was abandoned in August 2012 with a change of Government.

The Department of the Chief Minister is the central strategic coordinating arm of the Territory Government, supporting the social and economic development of the Territory as well as providing leadership across the public sector.

The acting position was offered as a developmental opportunity during recreation leave period taken by the incumbent.

Acting Deputy Chief Executive

Responsible for coordination of advice and support for the Territory 2030 Steering Committee; and independent steering committee appointed by the NT Government to develop the Territory 2030 Strategic Plan.

The process began in 2008, when the Territory Government appointed an independent steering committee to hold forums and discussions Territory-wide. The committee was made up of key community leaders and the focus of their research was clear: What did Territorians want their community to look like in 20 years’ time?

The Department of the Chief Minister has a special role in providing services to the Chief Minister, his Ministers and the Leader of the Opposition.

Apart from these officials and their staff, all employees of the Department of the Chief Minister are public servants and carry out their work as professionals regardless of the politics of the government of the day.

In my role as Executive Director of the Corporate Services division I was responsible for Shared services including information technology, document management, procurement, human resources & office suppliers. 

I was also responsible Community Engagement with the Office of Woman's Policy, Office of Youth Affairs, Office of Multicultural Affairs and Office of Senior Territorians.

Police in the Northern Territory are part of a "Tri-Service": the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Service with the Commissioner of Police.

Led the development of the Northern Territory Government's first whole of government crime prevention strategy.

With a change of government the project became Crime Prevention NT.

Deputy Director | Office of Women's Policy, Department of the Chief Minister

Police in the Northern Territory are part of a Tri-Service: the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Service. As a detective in the Criminal Investigation Bureau for eight years worked on a multitude of major and serious crime, including several matters that proceeded to the Supreme Court. Served in Katherine and Darwin as a General Duties police officer, the Prosecutions Section in Darwin and the Police Training College. Developed the first child abuse investigation course for NT Police officers. During this time was awarded the ANZAC Fellowship and later a NT Government Women's Fellowship Award - travelled to New Zealand, Canada and the US to study child abuse investigation and interviewing techniques.

Council for the Order of Australia

The Order of Australia, instituted by Her Majesty The Queen on 14 February 1975, was established as " an Australian society of honour for the purpose of according recognition to Australian citizens and other persons for achievement or for meritorious service".

The Order of Australia is the pre-eminent way Australians recognise the achievements and service of their fellow citizens. 

The Council for the Order of Australia consists of 19 members including representatives of every state and territory, public office holders (ex-officio) and community representatives. The Council makes recommendations to the Governor-General, who presents the Order's insignia to new appointees.
