I’m the founder of LetPlant, an AI-powered smart houseplant care startup redefining how people care for indoor houseplants. Our patent-pending LetPlant SDESA system combines IoT sensors with machine learning to deliver real-time, personalized houseplant care—reducing plant loss, conserving water, and improving indoor air quality and well-being. LetPlant addresses the environmental impact of poor indoor houseplant care, which contributes to high waste rates and undermines urban sustainability. Research shows that 70% of houseplants die within the first year, leading to unnecessary carbon waste from repeated production, packaging, and shipping. Additionally, most homes lack indoor air quality awareness despite the WHO estimating 9 out of 10 people breathe polluted indoor air. LetPlant's Al and sensor-driven system (LetPlant SDESA) reduces waste by improving houseplant survival and uses real-time air quality data to inform healthier indoor living. By empowering users to care for houseplants more effectively, we reduce carbon emissions, support biodiversity, and improve indoor environments at scale. With over 27 million households in the UK alone owning houseplants and over 1 billion indoor plant sales globally, the potential climate benefit of increasing plant survival and health is substantial and scalable. With over 4,000 users across our product ecosystem, including the GreenFocus Chrome extension and mobile app, and a retail pilot with Morrisons, we’ve demonstrated early traction. LetPlant has been recognized by Climate-KIC, Forward·Inc, and Henley Business School, and shortlisted for multiple awards including Winning Thames Valley StartUp of the Year 2025 and the British Data Awards. Our goal is to scale LetPlant product ecosystem across households and workplaces globally—starting with the UK’s 27M plant-owning homes and expanding into the $20B+ global indoor plant market.
