Trust Keith • The DPO-aaS for Scale-Ups

After a wonderful 3.5 years helping Trust Keith grow from the ground up, I decided it was time to take a step back and let others come forth to take things to the next level, allowing me to explore new horizons, and Trust Keith to explore new perspectives.

But, it was all amicable. So amicable, in fact, that I only half left.

I'm still working with Trust Keith's Founder and Leadership team, offering them strategic support for the business growth, product direction, and big picture stuff. Additionally, I'm continuing to support some of Trust Keith's more complex customers, because I still enjoy that sort of work.

I joined the leadership team at Trust Keith to oversee customer engagement, data protection, DPOs, and product. I was inspired by their vision, and the fact that they were some considerable steps ahead of me.

I launched my own business, just in time for the pandemic. 

Thankfully, I made somewhat of a success of it. Albeit, spending far more time on Zoom than I expected to.

I was a trainer and consultant in the world of Privacy - the GDPR, the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information, the Environmental Information Regulations, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations etc.

I liked working with small businesses, charities, and public authorities to help them get these things right. 

They aren't as scary as some people make them out to be.

Public Sector

Between 2012 and 2020 I held several positions in public service in the UK, covering... well, a bit of everything really, but primarily things in the security / data protection space.

I quickly worked my way up from some sort of assistant role, to several leadership roles, heading up multiple services, fixing broken departments, and leading responses to national emergencies.

I eventually decided to go it alone and pursue the world of business.

I decided to beat the recession and get a job overseas. What an experience this was - as the saying goes, there's a thin line between bravery and stupidity.

I can at least now say that I've played basketball with the Chinese State Minister for Education.
