Media Molecule

A fantastic decade working with the talented and BAFTA award-winning team at Media Molecule. I initially helped build and support the incredibly diverse and creative community around their hugely popular LittleBigPlanet franchise. Projects included the setup, design and maintenance of littlebigplanet.com for a number of years and the design & build of the LittleBigPlanet community web portal, lbp.me. I launched multiple versions of mediamolecule.com, plus built the first company intranet.
Later, I worked on an exciting internal project developing aspirational concepts for what Sony's next-generation console, Orbis, could turn out to be. These ideas fed into what then became PlayStation 4.
I went on to work on the joyful paper world of Tearaway (and Tearaway Unfolded), developing UI concepts and an extensive Papercraft Collection as part of the game, plus overseeing the design & development of the community portal, Tearaway.me. I also created the typeface, "Mm Paper", used extensively in both versions of Tearaway and the websites.
Media Molecule then moved on to its highly ambitious project, Dreams. In the early stages of the project, I used my experience from Media Molecule's previous products; planning out components and functionality in community and social areas. I then worked on concept UI designs for these aspects, looking at wider areas of design around search and discovery. Towards the middle of the project, I moved back on to aspects of the web service before launching the social and community portal for the game, indreams.me alongside the Early Access and full release of the game.

Freelancing again gave me some valuable experience and helped broaden my skill range further - designing & building websites and developing user interfaces for Adobe AIR software.
I worked with Brighton based design studio Yard, and their clients who included So Connected (part of the Selfridges & Co), Luxury Briefing and Blink eyebrow bars. I also worked at Mosaic, a full service agency, working in-house at their central Brighton based office. Some personal clients at this time included Music House International Licensing Ltd, Pitter Patterns Jewellery, WB Digital and YouNeedABudget.com accountancy software.

A short term contract position delivering interactive Flash-based e-learning applications for Brightwaves leading clients, including Virgin Atlantic and Vodafone.

Interactive Designer

NCsoft Europe Ltd

Joined NCsoft Europe as the company's first Designer near its early beginnings, gaining a tremendous amount of experience.
A key part of the role was developing and building video game community sites for the company's international MMO titles.
I worked on all aspects of marketing material, from magazine advertising, clothing, billboard design, point of sale, flash based marketing sites, event giveaway items to viral marketing. I was responsible for the production of nearly all of Tabula Rasa's European marketing material, including the games packaging design. 
I produced a large amount of concept designs, style guides and interaction prototypes for the development of NCsoft's digital distribution software.
I was responsible for the design, production and authoring of NCsoft Europe's game launching software, present on retail discs and trial discs.
I also produced concept UI designs for three unreleased video games.

Designate

Working on a range of projects for high profile travel and tourism clients such as Best Western Hotels and P&O Ferries, it was great to work in a busy and productive full service agency.
I learnt some valuable skills at Designate, such as building websites to meet Web & Accessibility standards and working in a .NET development environment.

Web Designer

I've completed a number of freelance projects over the years, and during 2003/2004 I had some of my largest jobs.
Clients have included IPC Media (Loaded, NME & Nuts Magazines), Provident Financial, Music House International Licensing Ltd, Brightwave and Free2air Recordings; with work varying from Flash games, microsites and custom built full PHP content management systems.

Freelance Interactive Designer

Virgin Radio

I worked as part of the busy in-house new media team, producing microsites for on-air and online advertising campaigns, updating the Virgin Radio website with new content, taking photos of the bands when they were in to record sessions.
