Head of Strategy

In this role I help charities, NGOs and purpose-driven brands get really clear about their objectives on social media. As a Social Media Strategist, you can often find me conducting social media audits, or leading workshops to feed into the development of clients' social strategies. 

When not strategising, I also double as Social Media Manager and do proactive community management or lead Influencer campaigns for our clients.

So far I've worked with brands such as Hope For Justice, Ecover, method, Safe & the City, and John Muir Trust among many others.

Chester Students'​ Union

Chester Students' Union is a charity that exists to support students of the University of Chester. In my role as Marketing & Sales Coordinator,  in three months I increased CSU's social following by 40%, introduced new and agile methods of working through the use of Marketing Project Forms and reintroduced a bi-weekly newsletter (80% CTR).

Some of my responsibilities included:
•	producing content for various social media channels resulting in 60% increase in overall engagement
•	engaging in reactive and proactive community management, resulting in 40% increase in following over three months
•	video editing for Instagram Reels, TikTok and Youtube
•	creating and updating web pages (HTML) with a focus on making each webpage more user-friendly
•	copywriting, designing and sending a bi-weekly newsletter to a readership of 5,000 - 13,000 students, resulting in 80% CTR

Marketing and Sales Coordinator

UniRoomy

UniRoomy is a Start-Up, described as the "TripAdvisor" for student accommodation. Nationally, 63% of students suffer adverse effects on their mental health and ability to study due to their accommodation experience. UniRoomy's mission is to fix this. 

In my role, I worked mainly on formulating effective marketing campaign proposals and establishing UniRoomy on various Social Media apps.

Prestwich Pharmacy

After successfully completing my Marketing Placement at Prestwich Pharmacy and gaining an invaluable range of experiences, I was retained and promoted. I then performed my old responsibilities with more autonomy working part-time from home while finishing my degree at Lancaster University.

Marketing Executive

Prestwich Pharmacy is an independently owned retail pharmacy and as opposed to other pharmacies, they offer various wellbeing services such as travel clinic, massage, podiatry, hypnotherapy, and others. During my placement, I worked as a "full-stack marketer" which means that I was responsible for all marketing activities from design, to website development and social media management.

Some of my responsibilities included:
•	producing paid Facebook & Instagram Traffic Ads resulting in 8.5% CTR and 4.2% bookings with industry benchmarks of 0.83% 
•	setting up Booking system (SimplyBook) resulting in 96% increase of bookings in Travel Clinic within 6 months of setting it up - from 3 to 76 consistent monthly bookings
•	developing and implementing a monthly marketing strategy resulting in 575 new followers on Instagram & 300 new followers on Facebook within a 12-month period through organic SM management
•	designing all creative materials for print & social such as graphics, posters, and banners as well as videos, newsletters, and blog posts
•	executing Marketing & CSR campaigns such as the “Reversed Advent Calendar – 24 days of giving” resulting in increased footfall in-store & 612 items donated to the homeless community of Manchester
•	analysing Web statistics, keyword optimization, and market insights to feed into the strategy
•	using Ionos & WordPress to develop and manage six websites 
•	conducting market research using customer questionnaires and 121 discussions with patients

Marketing Assistant (Placement)

Lancaster University Management School

Lancaster University Management School is rated among Europe's best in the Financial Times European Business Schools rankings. In my role as a Student Ambassador, I had to ensure that prospective students are informed about what the university offers as well as inspire them to continue their higher education at LU.

My responsibilities included:
• delivering talks on student life on Open Days in front of large crowds with more than 200 people resulting in the improvement of my public speaking skills
• leading campus tours around the university campus, answering queries and sharing personal experiences of life at Lancaster University
• conducting a calling campaign to over 300 prospective students

Student Ambassador

The purpose of the scheme is to support new students in LUMS successfully transition to study in higher education. This scheme in 2020/21 was even more important for first-year students as they had to make a very different and more difficult transition into their education at Lancaster University due to Coronavirus.

My responsibilities included:
•	facilitating virtual meetings with my three assigned mentees through Microsoft Teams
•	mentoring & coaching young people in their professional & academic development
•	adapting quickly to meeting & working with new people virtually 
•	listening and tailoring my work around my mentees' interests
•	working in a multicultural team

LUMS Leading Lights Mentor

Greater Manchester Local Pharmaceutical Committee (GMLPC)

GMLPC is the statutory organisation representing community pharmacists in Manchester. During my marketing placement at Prestwich Pharmacy, I was asked to support the committee with marketing their recruitment campaign in a part-time capacity alongside my full-time job at the pharmacy.

Some of my responsibilities included:
•	designing promotional materials for job adverts & social media
•	planning 4 phased promo campaign (communications, social media, job boards & magazines)
•	creating cost-benefit analysis to pick the best ATS for our recruitment 
•	running a social media recruitment campaign
•	reviewing job applications and responding to candidates

Marketing & Recruitment Assistant

Lancaster University Students'​ Union

Lancaster University Students Union (LUSU) is a charity that supports the wellbeing of over 13 000 students. In my role as Societies Team Supervisor, I was responsible for managing a team of 14 Assistant Societies Coordinators who oversaw the day-to-day running of more than 200 societies. In this role, I have developed my leadership and active listening skills.

Some of my responsibilities included:
•	facilitating team meetings and supporting 14 team members to deliver dedicated projects resulting in better workflow  
•	inducting, supervising, and supporting members of the societies team in delivering high customer service resulting in better team dynamics with a 6% increase in response rate
•	identifying business needs & acting upon them resulting in re-writing solutions for our help system
•	reviewing and optimizing current use of CRM systems such as Zoho & suggesting the use of tools such as Calendly to help us manage meetings with society executives

Societies Team Supervisor

•	administering databases and important information using Excel, Zoho, Trello, Box, Qualtrics and Word
•	working effectively in a team 
•	providing a comprehensive information service when responding to societies’ problems and queries
•	collecting new contact details and other information from societies and updating records with precise attention to detail 
•	reviewing and approving funding applications
•	using my initiative and making decisions under pressure

Assistant Societies Coordinator

•	achieved managerial position at early age as a result of mature and forward-thinking attitude
•	delivering events such as Fresher’s Fair (5 000 attendees), Refresher’s Fair (3 000 attendees)
•	booking equipment, food vendors and decorations for events
•	leading a student staff team (of 6) and supervising them
•	managing stakeholder expectations
•	ensuring that student groups are compliant with necessary health and safety documentation 
•	working with tight timelines, often with competing deadlines
•	liaising with external parties for delivery of projects such as Guy Fawkes Day
•	working under pressure to ensure smooth running of the events
•	managing budgets and creating risk assessments

•	representing Lancaster University to prospective students and their families
•	sharing my experiences and enthusiasm 
•	communicating effectively to all audiences 
•	dealing with student and visitor queries, whether face to face, telephone or by email

•	organising and delivering events such as The Great British Get Together, Volunteering Away Days, Geek Fest
•	planning and using resources to meet deadlines
•	working fairly and productively alongside others
•	leading a project (Mind Fest – a big celebration of student well-being that catered for more than 3 000 students)
•	willingness to question and listen to others in order to aid mine and others’ understanding of the work
•	ability to work unsupervised and meet deadlines as a result of good self-motivation and determination
•	easily adaptable to changes and flexible in my working hours so I can meet colleagues and managers’ needs

I’m Tonina, better known as Nina 😎👋🏻. I'm an experienced social media strategist with a passion for helping charities, purpose-driven organisations and non-profits to create positive change in the world through their socials. Oh and I love hummus 🧆.

Growing up I always had a fire in my belly that drove me to change things around me. From volunteering at local soup kitchens, animal shelters and UNICEF to mentoring students. 

I wanted to make an impact on the people around me. In my role as Head of Social Media Strategy @ Social for Good, I get to combine my passion for social justice with my love for ethical marketing! 💭

I believe that social media has the power to build communities and change lives. Especially when used strategically.

Some of the projects I am particularly proud to have been involved with are about making streets safer for women, putting an end to modern-day slavery and protecting wild places in the UK.

When I am not delivering strategy workshops and calculating KPIs, you can usually find me munching on hummus, watching documentaries or kickboxing. Not always in that order.
