I think people are fascinating and their behaviours are fascinating, which is why I have spent my career understanding why people choose the products they put in their baskets. I love helping brands understand how to best serve their customers by getting under the skin of the problem they need to solve, because when you are clear on that, decisions around recipe, packaging, communication etc. become easier to make. I offer brands clarity and evidence about how people feel about the things they have tried – what makes them feel excited, what makes them fall in love, what puts them off completely, and what is so close, but just not quite right. Every category is different and in every single one there are intriguing stories to discover, and clues to the ‘next big thing’ to tease out. My favourite thing is bringing together lots of different pieces to create something beautiful. Professionally, this manifests through consumer insight storytelling – drawing together lots of pieces of information to understand what customers in the marketplace want. Personally, it comes from dressmaking and jigsaws. Each of these things is essentially the same – pieces coming together to make something more than the sum of their parts.
