THE REME CHARITY

The Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) ensures that the
Army’s equipment is fit, available and ready for use to ensure mission success. We are the Army’s
professional engineers: we ‘keep the punch in the Army’s fist’.

The REME Charity is one of the many charities which are associated with the regiments and corps
of the Army. We work with ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, SSAFA, The Royal British Legion and other
national charities to provide help and opportunity for serving members of REME, our veterans and
their families.

Our charity is an essential part of the REME Family which it has served, in one form or another, efficiently and effectively since the Second World War. These are sure foundations, reinforced by our incorporation in 2016. The trustees are determined to develop and enhance our reach and impact. We have an experienced Charity Professional Chief Executive and a well-motivated and effective executive team. We have developed an ambitious strategy to ensure the Charity remains relevant, constantly improves our impact and connects us with the wider Third Sector and the Government’s Strategy for Our Veterans.

I provide expertise in Supportability Engineering/Integrated Logistic Support specifically with planning and scheduling of tasks, developing plans and assisting in support to client base. I have prepared for and delivered support demonstrations, review of training and technical documentation and Safety Case. My extensive knowledge and experience covers:

- ILS Engineering and Management.
- Logistic Support Analysis (LSA)/Supportability Analysis (SA).
- Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) Analysis.
- Safety & Environmental Protection (S&EP) Management.
- Training & Training Equipment (TE).
- Technical Documentation (TD) and Technical Information (TI).
- Monitoring & Management of Logistics Performance.
- ILS Elements & Associated Disciplines.

I initiated and coordinated a process to enhance ‘start of work’ activities within the company. As part of the discussions and negotiations with the client, I develop a defined and agreed scope of work, I produce a costed proposal to meet the client’s absolute requirements and I manage the initial work activity whilst introducing the remainder of the team. I provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to the lead role whilst maintaining contact and accountability with the client.

I set in place a company-wide Programme Management structure and providing support to all Project Managers within the organisation.  I utilised my coaching and mentoring expertise to support the development of the team and to ensure all projects are managed efficiently and effectively.

I utilised my understanding and knowledge of defences standards and support related policies to cascade information onto the team. 

I set up and coordinated Science Technology Engineering & Maths (STEM) related activities, promoting engineering awareness to future generations. This has included presentations, book donations and Engineering Insight Days at local schools.

Telford Mind works to promote independence and inclusion. It challenges stigma. It promotes self confidence and self-reliance, and designs and delivers appropriate services and activities through service user participation in development, delivery and governance.

Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers - REME

I had a progressive military career as an Artificer Vehicles in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.  I achieved the rank of Warrant Officer Class 1 and served in a number of challenging and varied posts including UK, Germany, Cyprus, Canada and Brunei.  I was responsible for the management, maintenance and support of a wide range of military equipment including radios, weapons, sights, medical & dental equipment, light/heavy vehicles and tracked vehicles.

Achievements:

  -  I received recognition for several Technical Suggestions that led to an improvement in equipment reliability including an immediate modification to an entire fleet of vehicles.
  -  I planned and executed Garrison wide H&S and COSHH training/audits.
  -  I comprehensively reviewed and revised H&S Instructions and Standing Orders which led to many policy changes within the Garrison.
  -  I implemented a significant number of Quality Management systems and procedures in support of the Management of Total Quality within the Army.
  -  I organised and led an adventure training expedition to Malaysia.
  -  I organised a variety of community projects, including charity appeals and Garrison activities.

Warrant Officer Class 1

Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S)

I was a member of the Project Senior Management Team with sole responsibility for all aspects of Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) planning, and the coordination of contracted and internal resources for 14 projects at varying stages of the acquisition cycle.  I carried out liaison with all stakeholders including the MoD Capability Sponsor, the Formation Commands and Dstl.  I gained Project Management expertise including effective integration of Commercial, Finance and Quality Assurance.

Integrated Logistic Support Manager

With over two decades of leadership experience, I am returning to a full-time Supportability Engineering role with MBDA while also embracing my recent appointment as a Non-Executive Director at Spark Academy. 🚀

Throughout my career journey, I've honed a versatile skill set tailored to drive growth and profitability in today's dynamic business environment. 🌱 I am deeply committed to fostering leadership, engagement, and governance within organisations to achieve sustainable success. 🤝

Previously, I served as an Operations Director at Quorum Logistic Support Limited, where I played a pivotal role in shaping strategic direction, spearheading business development initiatives, and overseeing various operational aspects including marketing, quality management, and HR functions. 🛠️

My approach to challenges is grounded in logic and positivity, and I am passionate about leveraging these qualities to support individuals, companies, and organisations in achieving their goals. 🌟
