I thought I would be a jazz musician. Then I reconnected to my roots in my young 20's. Then I thought I would be a brilliant scholar, like my great-grandfather, and his father, and his father, andfatherfatherfatherfather, and so on for many generations. But my young family kept growing and growing--thank G-d--and the need to strive for wordly sustenance became more and more apparent. I thought I could sustain my Torah addiction with some side side hustle: yes, I would be a shadchan (one who attempts to set up Jewish couples and gently guide them to engagement), but although I was doing a lot of calling, it wasn't my "calling." I gratefully took a seasonal office job for 7 years to learn Torah full-time in the other seasons, but it wasn't me: my creative urge was caged in like a captive bird. The whole time G-d was showing me success in connecting people here and there with worthy causes that needed funding, bringing the help to those in need and to their benefactors, the satisfaction of helping. Then I found a vision I in which I could invest my creativity, my interpersonal talents and my passion for Torah. (And perhaps my music?) Podcast Fellowship. Podcast Fellowship is a successful and forward-thinking Jewish educational non-profit. Podcast Fellowship dares to ask a bold question: What if... The upcoming generation of N. American Jews--the college students and young professionals-- would taste the delicious wisdom of their own heritage, on a weekly basis, in individualized live video discussions with dynamic and learned mentors? It would become a societal norm: Jewish students consistently exploring Jewish values in a deep way. Comparing and contrasting them with the prevailing culture. Receiving the education neccessary to make informed choices about living one's life as a Jew. Would that not alter the whole landscape of Jewish identity in the American diaspora?
