I am happy to report: I think, I’ve hit the jackpot.

Ruth and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary today. 🥂

It’s been an incredible year. 

Not an easy one per se. Just like in anything in life, 
there are always challenging and rewarding 
moments happening concurrently.

Feeling overwhelmed by endless tasks?

If you still think high performance is about doing it all,
you’re probably putting way too much on your plate.

Overcommitting, sooner or later, leads to one thing:

→ Underdelivering. 

(𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦.)

Here's the situation you've trapped yourself in:

→ You will either fail to keep up 
→ Or you will push yourself into burnout

Which one will it be? 

In both cases, you will drop the ball. 😬

And both will chip away at your self-confidence. 

Because your mind keeps track of every time: 

→ You don’t do what you promised. 
→ You overestimate your energy. 

The worst part? 

Realizing that you can't even trust yourself. 

Lesson: 

→ Never underestimate the toll of your perpetual 
to-do list on your performance and well-being.

Let’s do an exercise! 

1️⃣ 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼

2️⃣ 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 

Label tasks as 'important' if they align with your 
long-term personal and professional goals. 
Others are 'less important.'

 3️⃣ 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 

Identify tasks needing immediate attention as 'urgent.' 
Those that can wait are 'less urgent.' 

4️⃣ 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲 
(𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘯 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵) 

• Important + Urgent → DO these tasks first. 
• Important + Not Urgent → SCHEDULE for later. 
• Not Important + Urgent → DELEGATE if you can.
• Not Important + Not Urgent → DELETE from your list. 

5️⃣ 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 

How do you feel about your plan now? 

Use this method daily to make 
prioritizing tasks your second nature.
Filter every new task by urgency & importance.

When you hear "high performance," do you think productivity?

Productivity is a big part of high performance, I agree.

But in my coaching program, it's not pillar #1.

Nor is it #2.
Nor #3.

Productivity is the 4th pillar.

Why is that?

Productivity doesn't matter if you're moving in the wrong direction.
Productivity doesn't matter if you're too tired to execute.
Productivity doesn't matter if fear is holding you back.

That's why in my program, we first focus on:

→ Clarity
→ Energy
→ Courage

These three are the foundation for you to:

→ Start getting real results
→ Be happy with your progress
→ Avoid overwhelm, burnout, and self-doubt

Only then is a conversation about productivity truly productive.

Everyone wants to be happy. 
Few realize it's entirely within their control.

Have you heard of this neurotransmitter quartet?

• Dopamine
• Oxytocin
• Serotonin
• Endorphins

They influence everything:
⤷ from our mood and motivation 
⤷ to how we connect with others and experience joy.

I like to call it the D.O.S.E. of happiness.

Sure, you can boost these through unhealthy ways like sugar and alcohol.

But...
⤷ the terrible side effects 
⤷ health risks
⤷ short-lived nature of such methods

It all makes them less appealing to me...

when I first heard this clever tip:  
 
Take your MEDS daily. 
 
"Wait.. what? Meds?" 
 
Yes, but not the kind you're thinking of. 😅 
 
Your daily M.E.D.S.: 
 
M - Mindfulness 
E - Exercise 
D - Diet 
S - Sleep 
 
(𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘯 𝘉𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥) 
 
Call it MEDS or well-being habits, but  
they need to be part of your daily routine. 
 
It’s 2024. We don’t need a deep dive  
into why these are essential. 
You know why. 
 
What we can all use, though, is a reminder  
to be consistent with these practices: 
 
𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀:  
How do you get quiet with your thoughts? 
 
𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲:  
How do you move your body? 
 
𝗗𝗶𝗲𝘁:  
What do you eat to nourish your body? 
 
𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽:  
How do you ensure you get quality rest? 
 
 
We all define well-being differently. 
Yet I hope your definition includes  
all four of these habits. 
 
Because when they become non-negotiable  
part of your routine, you will: 
 
→ Feel vibrant and present. 
→ Be more pleasant to be around. 
→ And ultimately, be happier.

Last week, I spent 3 glorious days without my devices.
 
(A digital detox story)

How could I manage such a feat when most people can't go a day?

Well, being invited to a cabin with no connection helped.

Although, it wasn't my first time there.

Previously, I'd still bring my phone:

→ To watch pre-downloaded Netflix shows
→ To listen to music and podcasts
→ And to take countless photos

But this year, as soon as I arrived:

→ I took off my watch
→ Turned off my phone
→ (Would have been nice to have a third point here but I didn't have any other devices🥲)

I thought I'd:

→ Read the two books I brought
→ Meditate for hours
→ Journal a bunch

Yeaaah, right. 🫠

None of that happened either.

Because I wasn't alone.
I was with my partner and family.

Instead, we:

→ Talked a lot
→ Laughed a lot
→ Played all the games
→ Spent hours in the lake
→ And oh my, you have to try BBQ nachos! 👌

I also slept an extra 1-2 hours every night.
I think. Hard to tell without a clock!

The time flew by.

My biggest takeaway:

Only after unplugging did I realize how much sensory exhaustion I'd been enduring.

For two weeks prior, I started getting minor eyelid twitches in the evening.
Nothing crazy, but ChatGPT suggested they were stress or fatigue-related.

Guess what? They disappeared on day one.

Hope they stay gone.

Otherwise, I'm heading back!
 
 
Takeaway for you: 
 
You probably won't know why you need a digital detox until after you had it.

But yes, you do need it.

In your mind, confidence comes first; 
then, you can face hard things. 

But you got it backwards. 

Tackling those tough challenges 
is what raises your confidence. 

Doing the hard stuff is what builds your self-esteem. 

"𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙄 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙮 𝙙𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙬?" 

You're right. You can't. 

You need to start with easy stuff. 

Start by 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 on 
what you said you would do. 

Lately, you've been making too many empty promises, 
not realizing that your mind is keeping score: 

🧠: "𝘚𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘦𝘹𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘦, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘭𝘦𝘱𝘵 𝘪𝘯" 
🧠: "𝘚𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘐'𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘰𝘮, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵" 
🧠: "𝘚𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘐'𝘥 𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘺, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘢 𝘱𝘪𝘻𝘻𝘢" 

No wonder you can't do the challenging task 
you know you should do. 

Your mind doesn't take you seriously. 

𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁. 

So, how do you rebuild it? 

→ Start small
→ Focus on the things in your control
→ ❗️Stop saying you'll do something 
when you have no intention of doing it

Begin with a simple daily win, such as:

 ✔️ make my bed

Then, keep expanding your list:

✔️ wake up at a certain hour 
✔️ meditate for 10 minutes 
✔️ get in 7,500 steps 
✔️ make that shake 
✔️ read 10 pages 
✔️ workout 
✔️ etc 

𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 
𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱. 

And it has to be more consistent 
than your track record of lies. 

Before you know it, you'll trust yourself again 
and take on more challenging tasks.  

TL;DR 

Follow through on small things
↳ Self-esteem boost 
↳ Do harder things
↳ Confidence up 
↳ Consistency 
↳ Success

How do I do it all? 

I don’t. 

Learning to prioritize is the most important skill in productivity and life. 

Here are 3 transformative tips to help you: 

 1. SELF-AWARENESS  

It is key, and it’s an ongoing practice. 

→ Keep discovering your values. 
→ Audit your important life arenas. 
→ Think about your long-term vision. 


2. SYSTEMS   

Put systems in place to live up to your values daily. 

Here’re my top 3 values → systems, respectively:

Health → 85% whole food diet, morning exercise, 3 walks, sunlight.
Growth → I learn something new or do something uncomfortable.
Joy & Love → I have a puppy in the house so that’s covered. 😍🐶


3. BOUNDARIES 

→ Set strong boundaries protecting your priorities (values).
→ Over-communicate them to your family/team/everyone. 
→ Do not be the one to break your own boundaries. 


Ah, yes - and when it comes to work…  

80/20 ALL THE WAY.   

20% of activities generate 80% of your result. 

1. Learn what 20% are.
2. Triple down on that 20%. 
3. O.O.O. the rest: Omit, Outsource, or Optimize. 

And if you are not in charge, you must have 
a manager who should help you prioritize 
and also teach you how to prioritize.

(𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘰𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘣𝘺 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘴.)

The result? 

→ Stress
→ Overwhelm
→ Decreased productivity

Just like you can close tabs on your browser to speed things up, you can also declutter your mental dashboard. 

By focusing on what truly matters and aligning your actions with your highest priorities, you can:

→ Reclaim your mental bandwidth

Different routes usually means different strategies and systems.

Great! Now, I want you to commit to it for 90 days.

Why 90 days?

→ Short enough to maintain motivation. Just 90 days! 
→ Long enough to overcome initial discomfort and see real progress
→ Equivalent to a business quarter


3️⃣ 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝘁.

Here’s a game-changing truth: 

You don’t have energy, you generate it.

Energy isn’t a fixed resource – it’s something you can cultivate and amplify.

It's not about being naive or painting a rosier picture of the present. 
It's about understanding that today does not have to define tomorrow.

𝟮. 𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱-𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴

Consider the longer-term impact of your decisions.

→ Procrastination ensures you never accomplish anything significant
→ Passing judgment will ruin your relationships
→ A lack of movement drains your mental and physical energy

𝟯. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀

(i) Failure is not final.

Often, failure is a necessary lesson that prepares you for the next level.

(ii) You will figure it out.

Even if you have no clue how to manage your responsibilities now.

→ Yes, there will be even more.
→ Yes, there will also be more pressure.
→ Yes, you will learn how to manage it all better.
