Investing out of the Sybilla Master Fund, Outlines Venture Group is a gender lensed investor, seeking companies with women in strategic management positions with the ability to influence decision making that have found their first customer.  The fund is unique in its approach to structuring early stage investment.  As a Venture Partner, I work closely to help source, assess, and advise on potential investment and portfolio opportunities with expertise in Fintech, Data Science, and Intelligent Edge.

Lighter Capital

Lighter Capital is a tech enabled non-dilutive capital provider for early stage companies.  Using APIs to extract financial data, it uses proprietary software tools to assess the creditworthiness of companies.   

I created and executed upon the product roadmap for the launch of Lighter Capital's financial data and analytics platform.  I started by bringing in a UX/UI team to design the wireframes.  I built a customer panel to test the concept and prototype.  I worked with the development team to prioritize the features and data infrastructure necessary to execute.   I designed the data road map to productize the company's machine learning efforts.

From there, I took responsibility for product initiatives associated with the company's legacy software, including the implementation of a pilot program with a strategic partner.  I oversaw the release of the beta product and on-boarded customers who provided feedback.   I executed on the data roadmap creating a study around the Payroll Protection Program and oversaw the use of machine learning models (gradient tree boosting and random forest) to create AI driven financial categorization models.  

I was also an active member of the Leadership Team.

As a member of the Investment Team, I worked directly with Founders of early stage companies to understand their business model and financial performance to assess their credit worthiness for growth capital.  Further, I actively monitored the portfolio to identify downgrades and additional opportunities to deploy capital.

I was thrilled for the opportunity to use my successful sales experience and combine it with my mathematical foundation to create and lead the Product Management team at the company.

I continued to successfully sell Derivatives (complex financial products) to larger middle market companies to manage their interest rate risk, more than doubling the revenue produced from my territory.

I was promoted from Vice President to Director while I was at the company.

I worked my way up from an Associate into a Senior position, promoted twice, where I was responsible for managing my own P&L.  I worked with C-Level decision makers at companies directly to present, structure, and execute interest rate hedges associated with their debt structure and risk tolerance.

I have the risk tolerance of a trader.  My salesmanship has put me across the table in a position of wielding influence over decision making executives.  I have the scrutiny of a credit investor.  I’ve taken an idea and turned it into a product.  I have hired executive level staff and built product and development teams.  I know how to execute a strategy. 

Driven by an interest in the mathematics of finance, I have experiences trading and investing across a diverse collection of asset classes.  My current focus lies in edge innovation, bullish on the trends advanced by the deployment of 5G.  I am also looking for ways to generate a greater number of positive outcomes for both startups and investors in venture capital.
