The first profile I ever optimized wasn’t for a client.

It was mine.

Back then, I didn’t even know what “profile optimization” was.

I just knew my LinkedIn profile was doing absolutely nothing for me.

No views. No DMs. No opportunities.

It was just... there.

So I started tweaking things.
My headline. My banner. My featured section.

Nothing so extra. Just making small changes, one at a time.

And slowly, things started to shift.
People began to notice me.

My posts started attracting my right kind of audience.
DMs started coming gradually.

That’s when it hit me:

If your profile is “just there” like mine was, people will scroll past.

I’ve been that person with a nice profile picture and a confusing headline.

That’s why I talk about clarity so much.

Because when your profile is clear, it’s easier for the right people to find you, trust you, and message you.

So yeah, maybe I am the LinkedIn Profile Police 😂
But it’s only because I know what it feels like to be unseen.

And I don't want you stuck there.

In 2023, I was doing everything right.

Posting consistently.
Commenting on people’s posts.

But I was invisible.
My work wasn’t attracting the people I wanted.
I wasn’t getting messages or interest.

Then one day, someone I look up to told me,
“Victor, your content is fine. But your profile? E no dey match the energy.”

That thing pained me😭
But it was true.

So I redesigned my profile like I was building a landing page:

• Clear headline.
• Clean banner.
• Positioned my offers.
• Aligned my content with what I wanted to be known for.

And that was the turning point.

People started saving my posts.
Clients started messaging me.
I even started charging better because now, I looked the part.

That’s why I care so much about profile branding.

Because I know how it feels to be doing everything right… yet still feel invisible.

So when I talk about this thing, it’s not to sound like a coach.

It’s because I know what it feels like to be in the shadows.

And now, I help others step in the light.

Trust me, I’ve considered this thoroughly and it’s the best decision for me right now.

For the past months, I’ve been showing up here , sharing, learning, helping others fix their LinkedIn presence.

But right now, life is asking me to pause.

I’m in my final year, final semester in uni.

My attention is needed in a lot of places right now, from my final year project to my exams coming up this month as well.

It’s not goodbye, just a pause. I’ll be back soon.

And not just “back anyhow” but as a graduate.🤭

I went hiking with some of my coursemates.

It’s our last semester in school so we’re all savoring the moments🥹

Nobody tells you this, but…

After optimizing your profile, things don’t instantly blow up.

You won’t wake up the next day to 15 DMs or clients throwing dollars at you.😅

In fact, it might feel like nothing changed.

When you optimize your profile, what you're really doing is:

• Reducing confusion
• Positioning yourself clearly
• Preparing for the right opportunities

No flood of messages yet, but the shift is happening.

It’s building trust.
Positioning you.
Warming up people who didn’t even know they needed you.

Then one day, you get that DM:
“I’ve been following you for a while. I think I’m ready to work with you.”

That’s how it happens.

Quietly. Gradually. Then suddenly.

So if you’ve done the work of optimizing your profile, be patient.

Your profile is speaking even if you can’t hear it yet.

Designers hear this line too much.
And most times, the client doesn’t even know what they mean.

They just want it to “look better” somehow.

Sometimes I wish there was a “POP” button in Adobe Photoshop I could just press.

And boom, problem solved. 😂

But nah…

I’ll end up trying 6 different colour combos, 3 font changes…

Then they go: “Hmm… I preferred the first one.” 

Please tell me I’m not the only one.

I recently got a client who found me through someone I didn’t even know.

She had seen the profile revamp I did on someone else’s page.

That person didn’t even tag me.
They just used the design I worked on.

But guess what?

It was good enough to make someone ask,
“Who did this for you?”

That day taught me something:

Your work is your referral.
Even when you don’t speak, it’s speaking for you.

So make every design count.
Make every post clear.
Make every project proud to carry your name.

Because you don’t always know who’s watching.
