So far, almost 5000 houses have used Q-Bot’s robotics technology, representing a saving of over 4 Kilotons of CO2/year.

Appointed by Cairngorm Capital. I identified 25% ebitda increase opportunity through digitalisation and the streamlining of end-to-end operations. Post-deal, I led the digital transformation of the business, translating into an entirely reengineered system and processes and resulting into best-in-class user experience and a 30% increase in productivity. I brought in an experienced COO to overhaul the operations.

Achieving this transformation required persistence to overcome the organisational challenges of a very significant cultural change. It was essential to listen to people at all levels in the organisation to draw lessons on how the staff can be upskilled for the organisation to work more effectively. While leading a major transformation that occurred during the pandemic, I learned the importance of bringing all the significant stakeholders on the journey and building relationships face-to-face to transfer skills and effect change.

Millbrook Healthcare and subsidiaries Ross Care, Ultimate Healthcare and Consolor are leading providers of community equipment and wheelchair services, as well as seating solutions, improving the lives of service users at their homes. Cairngorm Capital acquired Millbrook in 2019 from the founding entrepreneur.

Altevax Biotech

Partnering with a renown neuro-oncologist and a research spinout from the French healthcare system, I helped raise €1.7m of early-stage funding. I managed public-private partnership to maximise return on the innovation and the development of intellectual property, leading to two patents. I built key partnerships to leverage the Altevax platform immunotherapy technology for cancer and infectious disease indications. Altevax’s pioneering melanin-based adjuvant technology has proven that it is effective in triggering a powerful CD8+ Killer T cell immune response against disease-specific antigens. Altevax’s first product, an immunotherapy against glioblastoma, is in clinical stage with Phase 1/2a under way in 2024.

National Timber Group

Appointed by Cairngorm Capital, I worked alongside the buy-in CEO to lead Yorkshire distribution branches, achieving a 10% sales increase and a 50% EBITDA rise in the first year. Together, we integrated four businesses to reach £250m in turnover. I led organisational and process streamlining, systems and data integration, and restructured timber processing projects. As the CEO built his senior team, I transitioned to the board as a NED.

I played a leading role in the post-merger integration, upskilling and empowering teams, and unifying acquired operations under a cohesive management style. I built an activity-based cost baseline which clarified the profitability by business line. This enabled the restructuring of the business into separate divisions (distribution, timber engineering, and door solutions). This data-driven approach also helped streamline operations, enhance productivity, and support buy-vs-make decisions. Additionally, I developed a granular, data-driven understanding of customer needs at the branch level to drive sales and expand local market share. 

National Timber Group is one of the largest specialised timber distribution and timber engineering companies in the UK with over £300m in turnover. It was created through the merger of Thornbridge, North Yorkshire Timber, Rembrand, and Arnold Laver, backed by Cairngorm Capital.

atHomeGroup

Appointed by Oakley Capital, I led the diversification of this online property classifieds business facing growth limitations in a small market with little pricing upside potential.

I spearheaded atHome’s entry into financial services, acquiring a mortgage brokerage and transitioning it online, seamlessly integrating it with the property portal to offer consumers a comprehensive property acquisition journey, which significantly boosted ARPA.

Concurrently, I led the acquisition of Luxauto.lu, the leading automobile classifieds site, optimizing monetization by creating synergies with the property and finance portals. This strategic expansion into finance and automotive resulted in a 4x return on Oakley Capital’s investment in atHome.

I have extensive experience driving transformative value creation in businesses, primarily in the B2B  services, healthcare, industrial and engineering and technology sectors. I’ve delivered successful outcomes as an Investment Partner in a global PE firm, CEO of an investor-backed company, and as Chair, NED, Operating Partner/Interim Manager in PE portfolio companies. 

In these roles, I led and worked with management teams to implement changes in strategy, operations, and organisation that resulted in markedly enhanced customer value, market positioning, productivity, and ultimately significantly improved financial performance.

As a PE investor I played a leading role in six PE investments totalling €760m in EV, all successfully exited with a 2.7x equity return and 35% IRR. I also co-founded and ran a venture that turned a large derelict industrial site into a thriving new city centre through a major urban regeneration project.

My experience spans companies in the UK, EU, CEE and USA.
