The Life You Can Save

From volunteer to CEO and board member, I’ve had the fantastic opportunity to work with world-renowned philosopher Peter Singer’s charity, The Life You Can Save, in various roles since 2017.

The team’s achievements over recent years include:

• Grew donations to our recommended charities from US$3.6M in 2017 to $18M in 2022. On average, for every dollar invested in our work over the past few years, we’ve generated $17 for high-impact charities.

• Established The Life You Can Save Australia in 2019 and grew revenue from A$1.3M in our first year to $3M in 2020, $6.7M in 2021 & $8.5M in 2022.

• Developed and self-published the 10th-anniversary edition of Singer’s book The Life You Can Save, including producing the audiobook narrated by Stephen Fry, Kristen Bell, Paul Simon and more — and made the book available for free. So far, we’ve given away over 150K free copies.

• Developed partnerships designed to help people find and support great charities while creating value-add for our partners. A special thanks to JCDecaux Australia for helping us give away books through a pro bono OOH campaign; Blinkist for promoting the book to millions of Blinkist subscribers; and 
Booktopia for the many collaborations over the years.

• Established a nimble in-house research team to identify high-impact charities, giving people the confidence to donate with confidence.

In 2011, I gave up the security of a permanent job to work as an independent consultant, partnering with organisations to deliver growth opportunities. 

My work had a substantial focus on market entry and marketing strategies, particularly those that involve fundraising, philanthropy, and partnerships that encourage corporate social responsibility.

My global experience allows me to step into any organisation, and provide objective strategic advice. As example:

UNICEF India

Based in Delhi, I covered the Head of Fundraising position at UNICEF India for six months while a new permanent staff member was being recruited. I reviewed strategy and operations to develop an in-depth report for the incoming Chief. I led a priority business transformation initiative, which involved outsourcing data, transactions, and donor management to a service provider.

Based in Bangkok, I covered the Chief of Fundraising & Partnerships role for six months while a permanent Chief was being recruited. I provided leadership across all partnerships and fundraising activities, led work on the Nepal Earthquake Appeal raising USD 2.2 million, and worked with the team to launch the LINE x UNICEF partnership which saw UNICEF Thailand build a 2.5 million follower base on the LINE platform.

Based in Geneva, I was responsible for the global UNICEF and Amadeus IT Group partnership which uses Amadeus’ technology to enable airlines and other companies in the global travel industry to raise funds for UNICEF. I also worked with UNICEF teams around the world to develop airline partnerships. 

• To date over €1 million has been donated through the platform by over 180,000 people flying with Iberia, Norwegian Air Shuttle and Finnair around the world. More details www.clickforchange.com
