A few things I believe:

- Velocity is everything. The faster you execute, the more you learn. Speed increases your interactions with reality.

- Small teams win. Fewer people mean faster decisions, fewer meetings, and no need for political fragmentation. No room for mediocrity.

- The only real limits are the laws of physics. “I have learned to use the word impossible with the greatest of caution.” — Werner von Braun

There are two ways to reduce economic inequality:
- Lift the floor.
- Lower the ceiling.
I’d rather work on lifting the floor.

- Most problems come from not having found your life’s work yet. Once you do, most questions disappear.

- Fight entropy. A product that isn’t improving is degrading. It's always Day 1.

- Relentlessly add value to great people in my network.

- Take full ownership. No excuses, no passing the buck. End-to-end responsibility in everything I do.

- Default to trust. Approach problems with intellectual maturity. Give credit in public, criticize in private.

- Optimize for impact over status.

Last week, I visited several teaching hospitals and medical schools in Malaysia to share some of the work we’ve been doing around AI and clinical decision support. 

A few reflections:

- There’s genuine excitement about AI across the board. For an industry often seen as a digital laggard, it’s refreshing to see doctors and academics actively experimenting with new tools.

- The initial confusion around AI is fading.
People now have a clearer sense of both the strengths and limitations of current models. The conversation is shifting from hype to practical adoption.

- Transparency builds trust. Whenever I explain why we build our products the way we do, and the challenges we face along the way, people connect much more deeply with our work.

A common mistake many companies make is being too sales-driven, which naturally creates distance and low trust. In my experience, taking an educational approach instead, sharing new research and developments in AI for healthcare builds stronger foundation. 

After all, we have the privilege of working with some of the most educated professionals out there, and doctors love learning new things.

I catch myself evaluating how efficient a country is, by the experience it gives you the moment you land (or leave). And strangely enough, that first impression tends to mirror how efficiently the country is governed.

In Singapore, it takes less than ten minutes to exit the airport. You don’t even need your passport at immigration (as a resident). The road into the city is just so beautifully designed. Lee Kuan Yew understood early that the airport experience would be the first and most lasting symbol of national competence, and he made sure the rest of the country lived up to that standard.

A week ago, I saw something similar in Korea. You can check in and drop your luggage at Seoul Train Station half a day before your flight, even though the airport is pretty far in a neighboring city (Incheon). It’s an elegant, thoughtful system that makes leaving the country almost effortless (makes me want to go back!)

In contrast, many Southeast Asian countries are still a nightmare to enter, multiple forms or apps asking for the same information, glitchy systems, and websites that forget your profile no matter how many times you register (hello, Indonesia). It says a lot about the mindset, or lack thereof, behind those gov systems.

This isn’t a critique of underdeveloped infrastructure, that takes time to build. In fact, many counties in Eastern Europe do not have a great onboarding experience either…

I am just confused how come digital experiences are so outdated. Those are the easiest to fix. It’s much simpler to manage bits than atoms, yet somehow, that’s still where so many governments fall short…

As you grow in your career, you eventually exhaust the kind of luck that comes from attending events.

Early on, serendipitous connections are invaluable, you don’t yet know what you need, and luck plays a big role. 

Later, you know exactly what you’re looking for, and most events become a waste of time.

There are only two exceptions:

1. When the quality of the event is next level. Usually, quality follows aggressive attendee curation.

2. When you are the one speaking. That's because it acts as a bat signal, drawing the right people to you. Still, this is secondary to the first point.

Some of my favorite moments at work are when I realize that my past self didn’t cut corners while building the product.

Every good decision becomes a stable foundation for future work. You don’t need to revisit or fix what’s already solid. Old choices don’t come back to bite you.

It’s incredibly hard to operate at that level because the startup life is tough, aggressive timelines, ambitious roadmap, poor communication, and shifting priorities constantly push you toward quick fixes. Taking the time to document your reasoning or build things the right way often feels like a luxury.

But the reward for doing the right thing is long-term acceleration. Good decisions compound. They create momentum. Bad decisions slow you down, break in unexpected places, and trap you in a cycle where every fix creates new problems, because the cost of resetting the system becomes too high.

The real challenge is figuring out how to reach that level with limited resources and relentless timelines. Finding that balance between speed and quality, might just be the most important productivty hack out there.

Ever since listening to David Senra's episode on Founders Podcast about James Dyson’s first autobiography, I’ve been meaning to read it. It wasn’t easy to find, but a friend surprised me with a copy, and it quickly became one of my favorite autobiographies!

A few stats that blew my mind:
- Dyson built 5,127 prototypes before getting it right.
- He worked for 14 years before achieving success.  He was 31 when he had the idea, and 45 when it finally worked.
- For over 1,000 days, he built one new prototype every single day.

For all the talk in startups about working hard and agency, I haven’t met a single founder who’s come close to that level of grit!

Some of my favorite lines from the book:

“I would crawl into the house every night covered in dust, exhausted and depressed.”

“There were times when I thought it would never work.”

“I would keep making cyclones until I died.”

Now, I understand a little better what it takes to build a great product!

Most chase productivity to escape work.

True productivity brings you closer to the work that feels like play.

The reward for good work is more work.

Linear is a great example of how the vibes in product have shifted: less A/B testing, more trust in taste and judgment.

As the cost of building software drops, the importance of building high-quality tools that truly solve problems increases exponentially.

Quality and speed aren’t moats but they’re the foundation on which you build.
