I am the founding partner of Helius Venture Management, a Dutch strategy and investment advisory firm. Helius is basically active in 3 fields of investment management: value discovery (early stage), value alignment (business redesign) and value recovery (turnarounds).

Together with selected associates we concentrate on venture capital, business development and corporate finance consulting. Helius operates as an entrepreneurial transformation agent and intends to leverage its expertise and network in Europe and South-East Asia. 

In this capacity I have been engaged by various clients primarily in knowledge intensive sectors such as new media, ICT, biotechnology and healthcare. Since 2007 I’ve been actively involved in various longer-term engagements ranging from ecommerce, healthcare into consumer product venture development.

I joined AND as part of a rescue package from a Dutch private equity investor, Indofin Group at a time when AND was in financial distress. In my capacity as CFO I was part of the turnaround process whereby we repositioned the company, restructured the organization, its operations and redefined our value proposition. Eventually we cleaned up the balance sheet, relaunched the stock, retired all debt and created a firm which is profitable today.

Indofin Group

The Indofin Group is a Dutch family-owned investment group, providing active private equity and venture capital through minority and majority holdings in the USA, Europe and Asia. Indofin sources underwrites and manages private equity investments in both old and new economies such as real estate, energy services, shipping, natural resources, technology and media.

I concentrated on the group’s direct investment portfolio by managing value enhancement projects in corporate strategy development, investment analysis for first & second round funding in both ‘old’ and ‘new economy’ projects.

My paramount engagement at Indofin was at AND International Publishers N.V, a publicly listed software company, where Indofin furnished investment and management recovery services during AND's financial distress in 2000. During the project I was invited to join the management board of AND.

Delta Dailyfood Holding

Delta is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cebeco, a Dutch agrifood group with annual sales of over EURO 5,0 bn. I was recruited to lead a strategic investment project, after having arranged a joint-venture between Delta and my former group, Euromill, in Thailand. 

At Delta I headed the corporate finance team in buying-out the production operations of a top-tier food multinational. On a day-to-day basis I worked as holding controller, working with a team of local controllers at DDF’s five subsidiaries in the Netherlands, UK, USA and Canada.

I have a background in business administration and always retained a broad interest in business dynamics and foster a genuine curiosity in why "things are as they are". Meanwhile, I love to touch the scales of risk and return as this is what drives dreams...
