I'm co-founder and principal consultant at Grownetics and a long time cultivator and CEA facilities and systems expert. My vision for data driven indoor agriculture stems from my time working in lean data driven manufacturing in Shanghai, China. Where data driven decision making and lean production methodologies are the norm. After co-founding Grownetics to help farmers implement continuous data driven improvement systems I quickly realized there was little understanding of real performance of cultivation sub-systems and sought to collaborate with other efficiency minded industry professionals to facilitate benchmarking best practices and common deployments. Through my work on the Technical Advisory Council for USDA funded Resource Innovation Institute and USDA Funded Optimia project I have learned just how fragmented and early this industry is which is why Grownetics was founded in the first place. During that time I visited 100's of factories, designed many products, and launched my own line of rugged tablet accessories 'Goliath Protection'. I'm incredibly proud to have a garnered full 5 star ratings on Amazon for the product. In China I also experienced first hand the very apparent effects of pollution in these new types of mega cities. This has informed my work since, and at the time inspired me to develop open source air-purifier designs and community education initiatives with aaaiiirrr.org. During my last year in China an 8-yr old child was diagnosed with pollution induced lung cancer. This lead me to look deeper into sustainable development and saw pollution affecting all resources, from air to water, to food. My passions and interests revolve around circular economy, cradle to cradle design, impact entrepreneurship, and open innovation.
