Founded in the Philippines in 1834 by Domingo Róxas and Antonio de Ayala during the Spanish colonial rule, it is the country's oldest and largest conglomerate.

AC Energy

Part of the Ayala Corporation (AC) pioneer team to set up the Group’s new energy business; Pushed the development of renewable energy business particularly hydropower -- new run-of-river sites, M&A of in-progress projects, participation in privatizations of big hydro (and geothermal), strategic partnerships.

(AC Energy sold off the hydropower assets in 2017 to focus on solar and wind, which could be developed more quickly, i.e. with less pre-development issues, than hydro.)

International Finance in 2017 named AC Energy as the “fastest growing energy platform” in recognition of the company's 20-fold growth from 80 megawatts (MW) of attributable capacity in 2011 to over 1,600 MW by 2017. 

From a strong local base, AC Energy is expanding rapidly around the region through strategic partnerships and greenfield initiatives. The company aspires to exceed 5 GW of renewables capacity and generate at least 50% energy output from renewables by 2025. In 2019, AC Energy’s power portfolio registered an attributable capacity of over 1.8 GW in operation and under construction, spanning projects in the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam.

The company increased its attributable energy output in 2019 by 25% to 3,500 Gigawatt hours, of which 50% came from renewable energy sources.
